    ABOUT AJ OPERATIONS

    An extension of Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners ("AJ Capital"), AJ Operations is the in-house management company for AJ Capital's hospitality, residential, office, retail, and entertainment assets. By leveraging resources across the company, AJ Operations expands upon AJ Capital's vertically integrated development approach and is responsible for driving operating performance and guest experience through the alignment of branding, real estate, and property operations. Projects managed by AJ Operations include Chief's, an entertainment venue in partnership with Eric Church on Broadway in Nashville, Memoir Residential, a multifamily platform initially launching in Nashville, Portland, and New Orleans, and Hotel 1928 in Waco, TX in partnership with Magnolia by Chip and Joanna Gaines, as well as many other exciting commercial, hospitality, and F&B ventures. AJ Operations will also manage 500,000 square feet of office space and 250,000 square feet of retail upon completion of AJ Capital's mixed-use project in Wedgewood-Houston Nashville.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    The Director, Human Resources is a key part of the team that will lead and grow a lean, high-performance operation that enables the company to scale as it acquires and manages an increasing number of hospitality, office, residential, entertainment, and retail assets.

    The Director, Human Resources will manage all HR processes/systems and provide leadership across all AJ Operations properties. This will specifically include recruiting, employee relations , benefits administration, employment law enforcement, reporting, and various administrative and risk mitigation duties. In addition, this role will serve as the subject matter expert on HR systems and will be responsible for managing budgets and HR vendors.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO
    • Manage employee lifecycle and HR system, including maintaining data integrity, reporting, onboarding, offboarding, employee records, and E-Verify.
    • Manage benefits strategy and program, including working with benefit broker on benefit selection and upkeep of employee adds, terms, and changes.
    • Administer 401(k) program in partnership with AJCP HR and Accounting teams, including employee adds and terms, withdrawal requests, compliance notices, and audits.
    • Create and manage performance management and compensation strategy.
    • Develop and execute creative talent acquisition and retention strategies for both hourly and salaried employees at the corporate and local property level (nationally) to ensure the company is recruiting and retaining the next generation of best-in-class contributors and leaders.
    • Create job descriptions, post to appropriate sites, monitor applicant flow, partner with hiring leaders to coordinate interviews and prepare offer letters. Ensure proper background screening processes are in place and followed.
    • Train property leaders on company policies, procedures, and HR guidelines and hold them accountable for consistent enforcement. Ensure properties maintain proper labor law postings.
    • Conduct and document audits of payroll, benefits, tax, and other HR programs to verify wage and hour compliance and recommend corrective action as needed.
    • Ensure proper legal reporting obligations are upheld, including, but not limited to OSHA, annual healthcare census, EEOC, state-specific requests, etc.
    • Submit all properties' unemployment requests in a timely manner.
    • Investigate and manage employee relations issues as they arise, referencing applicable employment law and company policy.
    • Partner with risk management on required postings, trainings, and processes.
    • Track state/county licensee or certification requirements. Manage recertification and training.
    • Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements.
    WHO YOU ARE

    We are seeking a highly motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced but disciplined entrepreneurial environment. This person will have extensive experience scaling HR processes and systems for a fast-growing company (for example, from one location to multiple locations nationally). This role also requires the following capabilities:

    • Growth mindset in strategizing the scaling of HR operations across diverse geographic markets, ideally in the hospitality, multifamily, or restaurant industries.

    • Ability to effectively navigate between high-level strategic and detailed tactical work.
    • History of driving results through influencing and collaborating with others.
    • Strong conflict-resolution and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
    Requirements

    YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

    Required
    • 8+ years of relevant experience in human resources.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field.
    • Experience managing HR for multiple locations and during periods of rapid growth/expansion.
    • Experience setting up a best-in-class HRIS platform, new payroll entities, and selecting third-party HR support vendors.
    • Knowledge of and experience with HR compliance requirements across multiple states/nationally.
    • Ability to travel up to 20%.
    Preferred
    • 4+ years of experience managing HR functions for high-volume hourly and salaried workers.
    • Experience in a hospitality setting working with upscale hotels, restaurants, etc.
    • Experience working with iSolved, Toast, HotSchedules, and Sling
    • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SPC certification.
