    Perm Hybrid Tax Compliance Internal Audit Specialist

    Tues, Wed, Thurs., on site/ Mon and Friday Remote

    Up to $115K

    Boston, Ma

    Summary: The Tax, Compliance, and Internal Audit Specialist will play a crucial role in the Treasurer's Office, focusing on tax management, compliance, and internal audit functions. This position will contribute to maintaining high standards of ethics, professionalism, and compliance while supporting both internal and external audit processes.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Team Contribution:
      • Lead by example in ethical conduct and professionalism.
      • Contribute to the overall success of the Treasurer's Office.
      • Undertake projects beneficial to the office's efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Audit Planning and Execution (50%):
      • Execute planned internal audits to evaluate and enhance controls and performance.
      • Ensure meticulous attribute testing and documentation.
      • Maintain professional skepticism throughout audit phases.
      • Provide support for external audit documentation related to tax and compliance.
    • Tax and Compliance Coordination (50%):
      • Coordinate external tax work and prepare internal government compliance reports.
      • Compile information for reportable items like unrelated business income (UBI).
      • Support filings and reporting for various government entities.
      • Facilitate communication with tax agencies and support compliance for banking relationships.
      • Manage sales tax information and prepare returns.

      • Internal Audit, Tax, and Compliance Lead

      Job Requirements:

      Education/Experience:

      • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or finance preferred.
      • Advanced accounting degree or CPA certificate preferred.
      • Experience in government filings, compliance, and accounting essential.
      • Experience in executing internal audit plans preferred.

      Knowledge/Skills:

      • Strong accounting and tax-related knowledge required.
      • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and communicate complex topics effectively.
      • Critical thinking skills crucial for handling compliance matters.

      Technology Skills:

      • Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
      • Willingness to learn new applications and technical tools.
