    Ability to develop a strategy for license applications and a state-of-the-art regulatory legal and compliance framework are critical skills needed for this role.

    This role is at a senior level, and works closely with, and reports directly, to the Chief Legal, Compliance and Risk Officer (CLRCO).

    You will be assisting the CLRCO in supervising the regulatory legal and compliance managers who are stationed in different parts of the world.

    You will be leading the strategic initiatives of the regulatory legal and compliance team, with a focus on maintaining, advancing, and uplifting Airwallex's regulatory compliance programs, coordinating Airwallex's compliance with all relevant regulatory frameworks and requirements in each market where Airwallex operates, and formulating and executing Airwallex's licensing strategy, including engagements with regulators in connection with all licensing applications.

    This critical role will require exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration with other key stakeholders across the organization. You will play an influential role in our growth story.

    This position may be based in any of our offices, including those in Australia, Asia, Europe and America, as well as other locations deemed appropriate.


    You Will:


    Lead the global initiatives compliance of the Regulatory Legal & Compliance (RCL) Team Lead and guide members in the RCL team, playing a pivotal role in maintaining and advancing Airwallex's regulatory compliance programs to meet the ever-changing regulatory landscapeAssist the RCL team in overseeing the Regulatory Compliance ProgramsCreate a state of the art regulatory playbook and program for each new license obtained for any of our products (where necessary) and in each new jurisdiction Airwallex operates withinProvide strategic suggestions and solutions in the design and implementation of Policies and Procedures and the overall compliance program Provide solutions and suggestions in the implementation of regulatory compliance programs, contributing to the strategic direction of these initiativesCoordinate and align implementation with the Product and Commercial Legal and Risk functionsCollaborate across departmentsPartner with other stakeholders such as Engineering, Strategy, and Business Development to meet the opportunities and achieve the goals and key results set forth by the global Airwallex group.

    Develop and Implement a comprehensive compliance and licensing strategyDevelop and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy, ensuring Airwallex is in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements across all markets and in all geos.

    Ensures a scalable licensing application process through codification of best practices.

    Integrate Compliance into business decisionsWork closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that compliance considerations are integrated into business decisions and processes.

    Build Strong Relationships with regulatory bodiesBuild strong relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations to promote positive engagement and advocacy, in particular during licensing processEnsuring a compliance culture at AirwallexDesign and implement a training program for all staff of Airwallex to ensure legal and regulatory compliance at all times.


    You Have:
    12+ years of relevant experience
    • Significant experience in a variety of regulatory legal and compliance roles, with experience in managing teams across multiple geographies.

    Industry Expertise
    • Experience in FinTech, e commerce, RegTech, compliance consulting, risk, and strong working knowledge of scheme rules, accounting, and/ or financial services.

    Legal Qualifications
    • A degree in the law and experience with financial and other regulatory issues.
    Data Proficiency
    • Ability to work with data and leverage it for strategic decision making.
    Leadership and Communication Skills
    • Outstanding time management, presentation, and relationship building skills, coupled with the ability to understand the larger picture while operating in a focused manner.

    These expected base pay ranges are based on information at the time this post was generated and represent the company's good faith minimum and maximum ranges for this role at the time of posting.

    The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills and other qualifications, geographic location as noted, internal equity, and other external market factors.

    Certain roles may be eligible for other compensation including, but not limited to, annual bonuses, commissions, RSUs, or other forms of compensation in addition to the established salary range.

    Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and work location.

    US-based employees are eligible to participate in medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability, basic life insurance, and well-being benefits.

    US-based employees also receive 20 paid days of vacation and 12 paid days of company holidays in a calendar year.
