    POSITION SUMMARY This role leads and manages the NDIA Business Institute (BI).

    The BI's vision is to be the hub for high quality defense industry-related education, training, professional development and certification programs.

    The role oversees administration and implementation of the current BI courses and explores new offerings. The position manages NDIA's external training partners, identifies new partnership opportunities.

    This position will build and manage a portfolio of high-quality training and education programs and requires both an external and internal focus.

    This person must be able to efficiently assess a wide range of external programs that offer training and education relevant to defense industrial base professionals, determine which make sense to offer through the Business Institute, then negotiate partner agreements including revenue share.


    This position ensures that NDIA offers only programs with best practices in adult learning and instructional design.

    Internally, this person will serve as the primary BI representative and linchpin for multiple departments and advise leadership on an ongoing basis.


    Must have experience and expertise to:
    Oversee management and administration of all BI learning programs.

    Review and evaluate a wide variety of training programs, providers, and delivery platforms to identify high-quality partners and programs.

    Programs may include face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous virtual, or blended learning experiences.
    Understand the industrial education field.
    Work with NDIA staff and members to understand member requirements in their priority training and education areas.

    In conjunction with SVP, identify, manage, and negotiate BI partnerships with Universities, Department of Defense, and private training providers.

    Strengthen, streamline, or otherwise improve programs based on participant and member survey and evaluation data.
    Develop the BI's annual budget and financial forecasts in conjunction with SVP.
    Initiate and support contract negotiations and the drafting on partnership terms.

    Work with NDIA's Marketing team on marketing plans, creative briefs, develop marketing materials and overall promotion of the Business Institute.

    Target key segments among the defense industrial base to training programs website and/or platform.
    Collaborate with the Meetings team on program logistics.
    Collaborate with Division team to ensure programming is in line and where applicable, in support of Division programming.
    Collaborate with NDIA's Emerging Technologies Institute to expand educational offerings.
    Collaborate with NDIA's Finance team, with SVP, to ensure program sustainability, develop budgets, and provide timely financial forecasts.
    Explore building new programs and certifications when existing programs do not meet members' needs effectively.
    Design and implement effective evaluation for ongoing programs and participant satisfaction.
    Knowledge of project management and delivering consistent high-quality content.
    Other duties as assigned by the Sr. VP, Meetings, Divisions & Partnerships.

    Strong preference given to the following background:
    Experience in adult learning and developing courses and training courses.
    Experience in negotiating partnerships, preferably in corporate training or education.

    Knowledge of the defense industrial base, in particular key certifications, training organizations, corporate training and education programs, and employee needs.

    Expertise in delivering member services in an Association context.
    Experience with Cadmium's LMS preferred.
    College degree required.
    4-8 years program management, in learning and development, marketing, or in education.

    ADA SPECIFICATIONS (Physical demands that must be met to successfully complete the essential functions of the job list items such as unusual work schedule, occupational risk, travel required, physical effort, environment and demands that must be met to perform the essential functions of the job.) This position is primarily located in the Arlington, Virginia office with regular travel to external locations for setup and facilitation of meetings and special events including overnight travel and periodic overtime.

    This position will also require some bending and lifting.
