    Duties

    and Responsibilities:

    Transfer Learning Community Implementation:

    • Coordinate TLC programs and events to achieve the overall goals of the program under the direction of the Director of New Student Programs. Partner with Residential Life and Community and Leadership Development staff to integrate planning and programming in support of the transfer student experience. Programs include:
      • Fall and Spring TLC Hours: Includes full curriculum development and event facilitation.
      • Fall and Spring TLC Integration Showcases: Includes event logistics.
      • Torero Transfer Week: Includes full curriculum development and event facilitation.
    • Design and implement the TLC programming with support from the TLC Faculty Integration Coordinator transfer students and the TLC theme (i.e. TLC Kickoff, TLC Showcase).
    • Attend weekly meetings designed to ensure smooth implementation of the Learning Communities program.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the transfer student serving (Engage) Scholastic Assistants (SAs).
    • Support Scholastic Assistant Program as needed, including program supply purchasing and providing work direction to transfer student leaders. This includes identifying trends and regularly communicating with the Learning Communities Program Coordinator.
    • Serve on divisional and university committees to represent the needs and perspectives of transfer students.

    Transfer Student Community Building:

    • Coordinate community building opportunities for transfer students after their TLC experience is complete, including National Transfer Student Week, Career Development opportunities, study sessions, and more.

    Administrative:

    • Help maintain Transfer Programming budget, assisting with direct reconciliation, tracking, and following through on all charges, purchases, and interdepartmental transfers.
    • Manage expense reports and reimbursements for T/LC faculty and manage purchases for student leader programming. Reconcile transfer-related budgets on a monthly basis.
    • Update all aspects of the onboarding and TLC websites.
    • Be informed, knowledgeable of, and follow current University policies and procedures.
    • Serve as co-instructor for LEAD 387-P, a leadership class for students serving in the transfer scholastic assistants and scholastic assistants.
    • Serve on the Transfer student task force.
    • Carry out other tasks as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree required. One year of work experience is equivalent to two years of education towards a degree.
    • Two years of experience in implementing large scale programming required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Two years of experience working with faculty and students in Higher Education preferred.
    • Experience working with transfer students or other underserved populations preferred.

    • Highly organized and motivated.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and G-Suite, as well as the ability to learn and use Banner, Workday, Workday, Salesforce, Cascade, Canva, and MySanDiego Portal.
    • Articulate monthly budgets clearly and comprehensively for faculty and staff.
    • Possess the ability to apply various organizational skills in order to prioritize workload effectively, satisfy deadlines under time pressure situations, and work on multiple concurrent tasks.
    • Possess flexibility and versatility in order to contribute to evolving work situations.
    • Cooperate as a team member with all offices performing duties essential to the achievement of program goals and learning outcomes.
    • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, staff, administrators, students, and the general public.
    • Possess thorough knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
    • Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgment when making decisions and dealing with diverse personalities and populations.
    • Ability to develop and use empathetic listening skills, communicate with clarity and maintain an attitude that conveys respect, assistance, honesty and resourcefulness.
    • Ability to provide constructive feedback to faculty, staff, and students during the event planning process to ensure events are student-centered.

    • Occasional evening and weekend work hours may be required.
