With 10 years of experience in the Fitness and Wellness industry in New York City, I have had the opportunity to work with clients, trainers, and team members from all facets of life. This experience has given me the insight on how different people view fitness/wellness, as well as their perceived needs in this area. I’ve also come to understand that people as a whole have different learning and communication styles. As a coach, leader, and educator, this is one of the most important things to understand if you are going to ensure that you are able to effectively help others achieve their goals.
As a trainer, I have helped countless clients reach their goals by utilizing motivational interviewing tactics to ensure they are really connected and bought in. When you can help someone realize the real reason why they want to make a change, it becomes easier and easier to help guide them through the process and all of the obstacles that may arise.
Later in my career, I became a manger and a mentor to other trainers. I was able to adapt my skills as a personal trainer and coach up 50+ trainers. I've led educational lessons, business planning meetings, group workouts, specialized fitness events, and hosted workshops to ensure that my trainers developed their skill sets in order to achieve success and help meet the needs of the business.
In these roles, I've had to wear a lot of hats.
1. Trainer/Coach: My job is to guide, support, and motivate my clients through their fitness journey by helping them build habits that can last. Often times this means simplifying the process and helping them remove potential obstacles in their path.
2. Sales: Covering everything from personal sales numbers to managing each trainers individual sales goals and ultimately the clubs monthly sales targets. I was able to successfully turn multiple clubs around from averaging under $60,000 per month to peaking over $100,000 in a single month.
3. Customer Service: I've worked with thousands of members within 5+ gyms that I've been a part of. This often means taking complaints and suggestions, helping members with various problems, matching clients with trainers, and ensuring that our members have a great experience in our clubs.
4. Gym Layout: In two of my clubs, I was lucky enough to be a part of a gym re-design. I was able to work with our Director of Construction and our Projects and Equipment Manager to ensure that my gym had a functional training space that made sense for the space and for the traffic of members that we would typically see.
