    Job Description - Full-Time Program Manager

    Rohingya Culture Center: 2740 W. Devon Ave. Chicago, IL 60659

    Supervised by: Executive Director, Assistant Director

    Status: Full-Time

    Organization Overview:

    The Rohingya Culture Center (RCC) is a community-based social service organization serving the Rohingya refugee population in Chicago and beyond. Our programs and services include Case Management, Interpretation, English as a Second Language (ESL) Class, Citizenship Class, Health Support, Academic Support, Youth Sports, Youth Club, Food Distribution, and Advocacy. RCC is a growing organization that currently serves 600+ Rohingya families, as well as other populations.

    The Rohingya are a Muslim ethnic minority from Burma/Myanmar. The United Nations has called the Rohingya the most persecuted minority in the world. As many as 3,000 Rohingya have resettled in Chicago since 2010. Chicago has one of the largest Rohingya populations in the United States, and the most active Rohingya organization to support them.     Role Requirements:

    The successful candidate is someone who wants to help make a difference. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, efficient organizational skills, and the ability to switch gears at a moment's notice. A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information, and professionalism in working with various staff, organization partners, and community members are important for aspects of this position. The successful candidate will possess the ability to complete complex tasks and projects quickly with little to no guidance, react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround, and maintain open and ongoing communication with the Executive Director, Assistant Director, and other staff members.

    A successful candidate is someone who is self-motivated with a positive attitude and who demonstrates excellent communication skills when working with our team, organization partners, and community members.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    When fully trained the Program Manager will be responsible for the following:

    • Oversee and monitor the various programs implemented by the organization.
    • Seeking, writing, and organizing grants to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services through funding.
    • Responsible for the effective administration of RCC's operations.
    • Manage budget and funding channels for maximum productivity.
    • Communicate effectively with the Board and provide all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
    • Data collection for monthly, quarterly, and yearly grant reports.
    • Attending and reporting on meetings with organization partners, funders, and more.
    • Complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
    • Manage fundraising efforts and donations; Send tax donation letters.
    • Complete payroll through ADP in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Organize health and education events; Organize outreach for community events, such as Eid prayer, soccer tournaments, and various health events.
    • Work closely with the Executive Director, Assistant Director, Program Assistant, various program staff, and volunteers.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in social sciences, social work, psychology, education, or related fields; Or an equivalent mix of experience and education.
    • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
    • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills; Oral communication skills and ability to participate in public events and group settings.
    • Ability to work with diverse populations in culturally competent settings.
    • Intermediate knowledge of computers, Google applications, and more.
    • Detail-oriented, proactive, resourceful, and self-motivated.
    • Strong pragmatic problem-solving skills in a wide range of situations.

    Preferred Competencies:

    • Proven experience in grant writing and reporting.
    • Previous work experience in the nonprofit sector.
    • Demonstrated high levels of collaboration, emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical skills.
    • Multilingual.
