    Description

    Job Description: Our esteemed client is hiring an Operations Manager for their Houston Texas location. As the Operations Manager at our clients Distribution Center, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily activities encompassing transportation, warehousing, and associated services to achieve our objectives of exceptional customer service, satisfaction, and cost efficiency.

    Essential Role Functions:

    • Lead and direct the management team in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the warehouse.
    • Delegate responsibilities and spearhead improvement initiatives across operational warehouse functions, from planning to implementation.
    • Manage labor expenses and weekly payroll to ensure cost-effectiveness.
    • Implement and uphold established safety and security protocols.
    • Conduct regular inspections of warehouses and equipment, recommending maintenance or replacement as needed.
    • Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for various aspects of warehouse operations.
    • Monitor workforce staffing levels to meet the demands of our business.
    • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and food safety policies.
    • Supervise Safety Committee initiatives to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Collaborate closely with Customer Service, Deployment, Transportation Operations, and DC Management to meet customer orders and service expectations.
    • Address operational challenges affecting customer service and costs.
    • Uphold fair, equitable, and consistent treatment of department associates.
    • Facilitate local, state, and federal inspections.
    • Review and assess business requests for specialized warehouse services.

    Work Experience/Requirements for This Role:

    • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Business Logistics or related field, coupled with at least 5+ years of leadership experience in distribution center/plant shipping; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.
    • Minimum of 2+ years' experience in a leadership role, including team development and management.
    • Hands-on experience in related warehouse operations, ideally within meat or food distribution.
    • Knowledge of the refrigerated carrier industry, perishable product shipments, and DC operations.
    • Proficiency in SAP, WMS computer systems, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, guidance, and supervision within a Distribution Center setting.

    Schedule:

    • Days: Monday to Friday; Weekends/Holidays as needed.
    • Hours: 8AM to 5PM; additional hours as required.
