    Lab Support Specialist

    • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-5PM
    • Job: Customer-facing role, preferable customer service background over lab experience.

    Description: The role of the IT Lab Support Specialist is crucial in providing lab support as part of a dynamic team, ensuring seamless facilitation and effective function of the working environment as a central point of contact.

    Responsibilities:

    • First line of support for multiple service providers and reporting and closing out faults promptly
    • Oversee stock items in and around labs, including glassware, lab coats, and consumables
    • Manage lab coat requirements, including inventory assessment and issue escalation
    • Regular meetings with stakeholders to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
    • Coordinate equipment maintenance and engineering visits
    • Provide induction for new staff and visitors
    • Ensure safety and compliance in the laboratory
    • Coordinate wast removal and lab services provision
    • Collaborate with various teams to deliver effective lab support services
    • Back-up other lab support areas as needed

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Associates degree and 0-2 years of lab environment experience
    • Strong verbal communication skills and knowledge of Health and Safety
    • Ability to drive continuous improvement
    • Experience in a compliance-driven environment
    • Aptitude for technical and practical matters
    • Ability to complete relevant paperwork accurately

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in a scientific field with industry experience
    • Understanding of GLP/GxP and 5S principles
    • Knowledge of safe chemicals handling and possession of a valid US driver's license

    Physical Demands:

    • Stationary position more than 25% of the time
    • Moving between different areas on-site, occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds
    • Specific vision abilities required
    • Using office machinery and personal protective equipment in the laboratory
    • Working with biohazards such as bloodborne pathogens

    Working Environment:

    • Working in a laboratory environment requiring personal protective equipment
    • Fast-paced job with high demands
    • Managing hazardous wastes in compliance with regulations
    • Prioritizing safety, security, and environment in daily activities
    • Understanding ergonomic relationships in the workplace
