    • Kirkland, WADescriptionThe Learning Support program is designed to help students overcome obstacles in their learning.
    Eligible students receive accommodation to ensure they can participate fully in the academic program. Our Guided Study Hall program provides coaching in study skills and self-advocacy in a structured, small group environment. This position is a full-time faculty (instructional support) appointment with daily office hours from 7:45 am - 3:30 pm. New teachers are expected to be on campus beginning August 22, 2024.


    Responsibilities:

    The Learning Support Specialist plays a vital role in teaching students (with and without documented learning differences) specific skills and learning strategies to help them achieve academic success.

    Primary responsibilities of the Learning Support Specialist include the following:
    Provide specific skills and learning strategies for students in a small group setting.
    Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, and families.

    Continually provide and seek out resources which assist students to achieve success in a college preparatory environment;Interpret cognitive and academic assessments for identified students, and design and support appropriate learning support for qualified students;Provide direct instruction of executive skills for students with deficits in that area;Monitor progress reports of identified students;Communicate regularly with teachers and parents regarding progress in school program;Participate in School Programs such as Admission Open House;Participate in Division Meetings and any other meeting in which students of concern are discussed;Provide other duties as assigned.

    QualificationsAn advanced degree in a relevant field and experience working successfully with students experiencing a broad range of learning requirements with emphasis on learning disabilities is preferred for this position.

    Course work and experience must show a strong background in interventions for learning disabilities. Experience within educational settings is desirable as is the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

    Familiarity with computers is essential, as are excellent communication skills for working with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and outside professionals; understanding of adolescent development and learning styles issues.

    Compensation Our competitive salary range is $62,500 to $108,500, based on experience.
