    Job Title: Volunteer Engagement Specialist

    Department: 303 Volunteer Engagement

    Reports To: Director of Volunteer Engagement

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Job Summary:

    The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is dedicated to helping those in need and ensuring volunteers have valuable experiences while aiding others with care and empathy. The Volunteer Engagement team strives to ensure that volunteers receive exceptional treatment and stay engaged in the organization in the long run. The Volunteer Engagement Specialist collaborates closely with various stakeholders to achieve this goal.

    The Volunteer Engagement Specialist delights in interacting with volunteers and assisting them in discovering fulfillment and purpose through their volunteer work. In this role, the individual manages volunteers in specialized programs, coordinates with partner organizations, and oversees volunteer staffing to optimize program operations.

    Specific Duties:

    In collaboration with the Director of Volunteer Engagement

    • Liaise with partner organizations to enhance the volunteer experience.
      1. Work with volunteers registered in specialized programs like AARP-SCSEP, Workman's compensation, and workforce development initiatives.
      2. Complete and submit necessary paperwork from partner organizations promptly, which includes approving time sheets, volunteer contracts and job descriptions, volunteer reassignments, and incident reports.
      • Maintain effective communication and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, partners, and other SVdP departments.
    • Engage with volunteers, provide support, motivation, and recognition for their contributions to SVdP.
      • Welcome volunteers with our exceptional standards, give clear guidance for their volunteer experience, and show appreciation for their service. Volunteers should feel valued and supported. Assist in ensuring a seamless and positive volunteer onboarding process.
      • Help volunteers with kiosk check-ins and check-outs as needed
      • Inform volunteers in specialized programs of any specific requirements and procedures mandated by their program and review SVdP policies, procedures, and expectations
      • Monitor and approve time sheets for volunteers in specialized programs
      • Address any volunteer-related challenges that may arise
      • Respond promptly to volunteer inquiries and concerns
    • Carry out any other tasks delegated by the Director of Volunteer Engagement
    • Engage in SVdP's Culture of Philanthropy and serve as an example to ensure volunteers feel acknowledged and valued*

    * Volunteer engagement, appreciation, and participation in the Culture of Philanthropy are integral aspects of all SVdP job roles, reflecting the organization's cultural values

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • This role requires occasional work on Saturdays until Noon

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and lift up to 20 pounds are necessary for this role
