Volunteer Engagement works to _fulfill the vision that volunteers have _a_ "gold standard" experience with SVdP that leads to life-time engagement.

_The Volunteer Engagement Specialist plays a pivotal role collaborating with internal and external constituencies to make this happen.

The Volunteer Engagement Specialist enjoys meeting and working with volunteers to help them find meaning and purpose through volunteerism.

This position works with volunteers in specialized volunteer programs, with our partner organizations, and with our SVdP program areas to ensure we have the right volunteer staffing to run programming effectively.


Specific Duties:


In collaboration with the Director of Volunteer Engagement
-
Liaise with partner organizations to improve the volunteer experience.

  • Work with volunteers enrolled in specialized volunteer programs such as AARP-SCSEP, Workman's compensation, and workforce development programs.
  • Complete and submit documentation required of partner organizations in a timely fashion. This includes approving time sheets, volunteer contracts and job descriptions, volunteer reassignments, and incident reports.
- _ Maintain open lines of communication and healthy working relationships among staff, volunteers, partners, as well as among other SVdP departments._

Engage volunteers, supporting, encouraging, and showing appreciation for their involvement with SVdP.

  • Welcome volunteers with our "gold standard" of excellent, offer appropriate direction for their volunteer experience, and express gratitude for their service. Volunteers should feel "Tackled with love." Help to ensure a positive, smooth, efficient volunteer onboarding process
  • Assist volunteers with kiosk check in and check out as needed
  • Inform volunteers enrolled in specialized programs of any specific requirements and procedures required by their program and review any SVdP policies, procedures, and expectations
  • Track and approve time sheets for volunteers in specialized programs
  • Troubleshoot volunteer issues that arise
  • Respond promptly to volunteer inquiries and issues
  • Performs any other duties assigned by Director of Volunteer Engagement
  • Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP's Culture of Philanthropy, and ensure SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated* _Volunteer engagement and appreciation, as well as Culture of Philanthropy participation are part of all job descriptions at SVdP, and a very important part of the organizational culture and values_

Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements:


  • Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach and lift up to 20 pounds are required for this position
