- Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
- Work hours are, you have the option of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM - or - 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- This position is currently headquartered in Dauphin County, but headquarters can be changed to any district office or State Health Center.
- You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. Commonwealth employees who telework full-time will need to report onsite for at least one day per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

- Two years of experience as an Environmental Health Specialist (Commonwealth title); or
- Four years of professional environmental protection or environmental health experience that includes two years of experience related to safety and sanitation of public pools, public bathing facilities, organized camp facilities, and campgrounds, and a bachelor's degree in a natural, physical, chemical, or biological science, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of professional experience related to safety and sanitation of public pools, public bathing facilities, organized camp facilities, and campgrounds.
- You must possess an active motor vehicle license that is not currently under suspension.

THE POSITION

This position is responsible for advising and evaluating program operations and developing recommendations to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the statewide environmental health and safety programs for the division.

In this position, you assist in the management of statewide systems for Environmental Health (EH) Programs including public bathing places and organized camps.
You are required to travel to health districts throughout the state to conduct reviews of EH program records for quality control and consistency.
Other duties include coordinating a centralized permit application data system, maintaining databases for EH programs to ensure data and records are up to date, and creating training programs for staff, facility owners and operators, County and Municipal Health Departments, and the public.
