- Act as a role model in recovery to inspire hope and share life experiences as appropriate to the recovery process.
- Assist clients in articulating personal goals for recovery and housing retention.
- Assist clients in working with the case manager and/or clinician in determining the steps needed to achieve self-directed recovery.
- Identify abilities, strengths, and assets of the client and assist in recognizing and utilizing them.
- Must be certified as Peer Specialist or Peer Wellness at time of hire or within the first 6 months.
- Self-identify as a current or former recipient of mental health or co-occurring services with personal experience in homelessness.
- Comfortable working with individuals experiencing symptoms of mental illness.
- Knowledge of mental health and social services systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Reports to: Homeless & Transitional Housing Manager
Location: SE Portland
Compensation: $20.80 annual salary
SCHEDULE: Monday-Thursday; 9:00am-5:30pm
About the Position: The Peer Support Specialist will collaborate with case managers, mental health clinicians, and housing specialists to provide individualized support for each client.
