    Position Overview:

    The Office of Educational Effectiveness and Institutional Research conducts institutional research and partners with the campus community to support planning, accreditation, and evidence-based decision-making for student success. Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Educational Effectiveness, the Data Analyst's main function is to provide expertise in data analysis, visualization, mining, and reporting to campus stakeholders.

    Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) was founded in 1997 as the first higher education institution in the United States dedicated exclusively to education and research related to the applied life sciences. KGI offers innovative postgraduate degrees and certificates that integrate life and health sciences, business, pharmacy, engineering, and genetics, focusing on industry projects, hands-on industry experiences, and team collaborations.     Education and Experience:

    A bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a closely related field with an emphasis on data visualization tools, design, data modeling, data mining, and advanced analytics reporting and at least two years of data analysis experience or academic training.

    At least one year of experience in technical research or statistical work is required. One year of graduate study in the social sciences, economics, mathematics, statistics, public or business administration, or engineering fields may be substituted for the required experience.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position successfully or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
    • Conduct data mining, reporting, analyses, and writing summaries in support of planning, enrollment management, policy formation, decision-making, and accreditation. Report for internal and external surveys, as well as local, state, and federal reporting and information requests. Responsible for generating statistics for external surveys and information requests (from IPEDS, US News World Report, National Science Foundation (NSF), and other organizations.
    • Construct, implement, and evaluate internal surveys. Work cooperatively with campus stakeholders on the improvement of Institutional Research data warehouses and standardized data report queries in the development of a wide range of web-based projects, such as dashboards and dynamic statistical reporting, providing end-user training where required. Create and maintain accurate scripts to extract data, conduct analyses, prepare and finalize enrollment reports, design and update dashboards, and fulfill ad hoc requests.
    • Prepares data, materials, and reports for institutional self-study, program review, departmental self-study, and other data requestors, especially in support of institutional evaluation; designs and implements questionnaires and reports on results.
    • Works on creating, modifying, validating, and publishing ad-hoc and ongoing reports.
    • Provide timely, relevant, accurate, insightful ongoing data support and strategic research needs for Academic Affairs.
    • Stay up to date on data software and reporting techniques.
    • Perform other related duties and assignments as directed.

    • Proficient in utilizing various quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze data for key initiatives, adept at managing multiple projects seamlessly in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong critical thinking skills and a solutions-oriented, innovative approach to exploring data.
    • Quickly adapt to new policies, technologies, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and outcomes, providing strategic direction and demonstrating expertise in predictive modeling, data visualization, and communication skills.
    • Well-organized, creative, and self-directed individual who exhibits a high level of integrity that inspires trust and confidence.
    • Proven ability to analyze, summarize, and present complex data in accessible terms, both verbally and in writing, to various constituencies.
    • Excellent organizational skills and flexibility to handle several projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
    • Ability to interact professionally with diverse data users from various functional levels.
    Hours, Classification, and Status:

    This is a regular, full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position.

    The regular hours of this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.

    Salary range: $65,000-$75,000 annualized. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

    Special Requirements

    Physical and Mental Requirements

    Ability to maintain good concentration level while dealing with interruptions; attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy; capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information; formulating work plans; and articulating goals and action plans. Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Standing for extended periods of time. Reaching and extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file. Ability to move about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example, to lift or move office supplies, files, books, and packages. Ability to work extended workdays and periodic weekends as needed to meet departmental needs/goals.
