    Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay.

    There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county:
    Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

    The purpose of the Program Consultant position is to oversee systems to assure the delivery of individualized person-directed supports and services; foster teamwork to bring about organizational changes to assure the delivery and quality assurance of services provided as measured by the consumer.

    This position also oversees the work of Mental Health Development/Disabilities Technician's (MHDDT's) for the patient units, shares leadership, personnel supervision, and management responsibilities of ancillary professional staff with the directors of medical, psychology, social work, and nursing.

    Develops, delivers, and maintains through supervisory staff, systems which objectively monitor employee performance and promote constructive employee feedback. This position will also assist MHDDT staff with daily patient care, as needed. The basic daily care to patients is to enable them to meet their daily living needs, i.

    assist with personal and oral hygiene, care of clothing, room care and special incontinent patients.


    The essential functions of this position may require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques.

    Be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.


    Osawatomie State Hospital Adair Acute Care is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.


    Minimum Qualifications:
    One year of experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring activities relevant to the agency's programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in human services field and Providing support for unit parties or off unit activities as needed,Team Building- celebrate (recognize) achievements and above normal performance, Perfect attendance, implement team building concepts.


    Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services.

    Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
