    Safe Organized Spaces Richmond (SOS Richmond)


    Position:


    Fund Development ManagerHours: 30-40 hours per weekCompensation: $75,000 to $85,000 per year based on experienceLocation: San Francisco Bay Area (East Bay preferred)This is a hybrid position.

    Weekly work will be approximately 75% work

    from home with 25% in-person meetings in or near Richmond, CA. Must have regional development experience.

    SOS RichmondMore than 1,500 people live outdoors in homeless encampments in Richmond, and most do not have even temporary emergency shelter options or the basic necessities of life.

    Safe Organized Spaces Richmond (SOS Richmond) is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in which housed and unhoused neighbors work together to provide jobs, encampment services, outreach and safe living spaces as solutions to homelessness.

    SOS employs unhoused residents directly from encampments and facilitates skill development, job advancement, personal wellness, improved living conditions, and a pathway to housing.

    Peer-provided encampment services include mobile showers; trash removal; portable toilets; provision of food, drinking water, and essential supplies; and other amenities that improve conditions in encampments.

    Outreach by staff members who themselves have experienced homelessness opens communication channels between housed and unhoused neighbors and public agencies, while guiding unhoused individuals toward services and opportunities in a "tent-to-home" model.

    Newly implemented programs include the Warm Hand Wellness Center and a 90-day job readiness program. While SOS has received substantial city support, diversification of funding streams is critical.


    About the Position:

    Fund Development ManagerThe fund development manager (FDM) will be part of the administrative team that helps set and implement organizational strategy.

    The FDM will report to the executive director (ED) and will work collaboratively with the administrative team.


    Responsibilities:
    Collaboratively identify most promising relationships and fundraising, income generation and resource development strategiesCreate and pursue work plans to achieve fundraising goalsWork closely with the ED and director of operations and strategy (DSO) on relationship-building, strategy, proposals, RFPs and collaborative project development for local work contracts and grants; follow-up on leads for potential contracted fee for service workResearch public and private funding opportunities, prepare/submit grant proposals, track, and follow up as neededOversee updating/maintenance of donor database; create and conduct general, project, or special/one-time donation campaigns (using digital, print, and in person tools); cultivate 1x1 donor relationships; plan and implement local donor events; engage Board and staff in donor outreach/cultivationCreate/oversee community collections and drives for in-kind donations; track all in-kind contributions with estimated value for auditsPlan/oversee in-person events, including presentations, networking, tabling at community eventsCampaign design and marketingTrack success rates with each fundraising each strategyCollect and analyze fundraising data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvementCreate a development flow chart and manage development teamworkEnhance the existing development manual with policies/processes for fundraising activitiesQualifications:5+ years community-based fundraising experience preferredTrack record of fundraising from public sector, individual donor, philanthropic, and corporate sourcesHighly organized self-starter with the ability to form positive and collaborative relationships with staff, funders and community partnersExcellent written and oral communication skills, and attention to detailExperience with digital outreach and communication tools including social mediaPassion for social justice and envisioning creative long-term solutions to homelessnessAffinity for SOS Richmond vision/philosophy: full partnership with the unhoused communityPersonal attributes: transparency and accountability, perseverance, compassion, empathy, a sense of humor
