    SUMMARY

    The Project Management Technician is responsible for coordinating and leading activities in order to deliver customer projects on time. This position works closely with a core cross-functional team with the guidance of other members of the PMO, using best practices in project management to ensure project completion is on time, on scope and on budget.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Project Management

    • Support Sales in quoting and proposal activities through creating of SOWs (statement of work) documents or other project scope requirements
    • Lead prototype order process to include:
      1. Working with Product Development to set up the order
      2. Scheduling the order into the appropriate manufacturing/development team based on the product/service
      3. Maintaining the schedule for the prototype delivery
      4. Communicate the delivery of the prototype with the customer
      5. Obtain prototype feedback from customer
      6. Critically review feedback and be able to identify technical solutions and resources to close gaps
    • Escalate pre-production quality issues and drive to resolution
    • Lead manufacturing product launches to include the following items:
      1. Capture product and customer requirements for technology, warranty/service, pricing, regulatory certifications, labeling, kitting, and packaging, etc.
      2. Understand and/or define the goals of the project – timeline, budget, scope
      3. Be able to articulate the project's phases, tasks, dependencies, timeline, and budget with a customer
      4. Use recognized industry Project Management tools to lead project to successful conclusion. To include the following items:
        • Creating of a project plan with engineering in alignment with customer requirements
        • Establishing a Procurement Plan
        • Leading the Project Kickoff and Closure
        • Scheduling the project resources
        • Creating the communication plan – internally and externally
        • Developing all required project tools to ensure project is completed on time, on budget and within scope
        • Identifying and taking ownership of the resolution to project issues/risks
      5. Process all internal documentation and requests to drive the activities necessary to complete the required project tasks according to the project plan
      6. Independently drive successful completion of assigned tasks, tickets, and projects
    • Act as an escalation point on new opportunities; understand and articulate the high-level technical concepts being proposed
    • Document and communicate product/service lifecycle of project deliverables for use in management and sustainment of those deliverables after project closure
    • Lead the change management process for all project or deliverable modifications
    • Maintain project documentation in an organized, electronic manner
    • Maintain project history for future reference and analysis
    • Provide backup support to colleagues as assigned
    • Follow and update project templates and processes
    • Following a successful launch, work closely with the Account Executive and Account Manager to transition program to Account Manager

    Leadership

    • Take responsibility and authority for delivery of project results to internal and external customers per project scope
    • Act in accordance with and champion Dedicated Computing Values and Goals in thought and action every day
    • Drive efficient use of time in the business through good organization and excellent written and oral communication
    • Support continuous improvement by recommending and driving process or tool updates to improve efficiency or quality
    • Work closely with all parts of the organization internal and external as an active team member and leader

    QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Required:

    • Associate degree and at least 3 years of experience planning and/or managing projects or at least 5 years of experience in a technical role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar programs
    • Ability to travel to customer locations on a planned and unplanned basis

    Preferred:

    • Professional certification in project management (e.g. - CAPM, PMP) from a recognized organization such as PMI
    • Extensive knowledge of the computing, IT and technology marketplace
    • Experience working with formal quality systems
    • Extensive knowledge of the computer industry
    • Experience in statistical analysis methods
    • An Engineering or Computer Science degree is a plus
