Job Summary:
The Program Manager, Student Financial Literacy is responsible for collaborating with a team of internal and external community partners to provide financial counseling for students who are enrolled in Rush Medical College. Using a case management model, the financial literacy specialist will focus on building relationships with students to assist with budgeting and financial decision-making strategies while enrolled at RUSH University. The Program Manager will develop, prepare, and maintain an innovative financial literacy curriculum and syllabus to counsel students on topics such as budgeting, debt management, credit management, loan repayment and identity protection. This position will also assist with developing and implementing a financial wellness repository of internal and external resources to proactively promote and communicate the availability of educationally related financial information for students and that increases student satisfaction with debt management counseling and student loan repayment. The selected candidate will exemplify the RUSH mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with RUSH policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
Employ an integrated case management framework for conducting general and personalized financial wellness seminars for students to help them develop a comprehensive blueprint for improving their financial literacy knowledge and wellbeing.
Implement a financial wellness program based on best practices including, but not limited to the development of a peer ambassador program that supports the financial education of students to develop a financial success model.
Conduct workshops and produce audio and/or digital media on financial wellbeing and stability topics and offer group and one-on-one counseling sessions to educate students on a myriad of financial management topics.
Develop dynamic programming within the college to integrate financial literacy into the curriculum that is suited for the needs of medical students throughout their enrollment at the university.
Maintain a central repository of available financial counseling resources for students to easily access (ex: via learning management system, the portal, etc.).
Provides ideas and helps with actively promoting events, resources, and tools in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Aid and the college.
Ensure counseling strategies are in alignment with LCME (Liaison Committee on Medical Education) accreditation standards to improve student satisfaction related to debt management and student loan counseling.
Conduct ongoing needs assessments to identify potential barriers and hurdles that may adversely influence students financial wellness and academic standing by offering referrals to wraparound financial counseling services were needed.
Develop a robust feedback loop to assess the quality of the workshops, counseling sessions, and literacy information using surveys, forums, and interviews with students in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
Collaborate with Student Business Office to articulate clear disbursement timelines and expectations for students in alignment with disbursement dates as established by the Director of Financial Aid and the Business Office Manager.
Leverage external financial literacy experts for provide customized tools and best practices for financing medical education and loan repayment options.
Serve as a financial aid representative to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) to learn and incorporate regional and national best financial literacy practices for medical students.
Provide counseling and awareness of mindful borrowing debt management.
Build individual case management financial portfolios to educate students on financing their education.
Develop quarterly relevant student indebtedness data metrics for student awareness.
Serve as a financial aid/literacy liaison to the medical colleges Student Council to provide ongoing updates.
Assist with processing student aid as needed.
Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in personal finance, economics, or related field.
Minimum of 2- 4 years in personal finance advising roles.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in personal finance, economics, or related field.
Minimum of 4 years in personal finance advising roles working in a healthcare related field.
Possess or be willing within the first year of employment to obtain financial literacy or personal finance certification (ex: CEFI, CFP, etc.).
