    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Human Resources Generalist Benefits and Leave Administration (the Generalist) is responsible for the implementation and administration of ECRI's health and wellness benefits, as well as ECRI's leave administration program. The Generalist is responsible for ensuring the successful enrollment of all employees in ECRI's health and wellness benefit programs, partnering with our benefits broker and benefit providers to ensure that all benefits information is accurate and issues are resolved in a timely manner; ensuring successful administration of ECRI's leave policies and procedures; and assisting employees to help resolve complex benefits and leave issues. In addition, the Generalist will be expected to support and manage additional Human Resources (HR) tasks and projects in different HR functional areas, as required.

    Essential Functions Statement(s):
    • Implement and administer ECRI's health and wellness benefits program for all employees. This includes, but not limited to:
      • Management and implementation of all benefit programs for ECRI.
      • Ensure that all new employees are enrolled in ECRI's health and wellness benefits correctly and in accordance with enrollment requirements and deadlines.
      • Gather and present annual benefit program design considerations to Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Director, Human Resources, with consideration to changing benefits landscape, diverse needs of our employee population, inclusive benefit offerings, and management of costs for all parties while offering a robust set of benefits.
      • In collaboration with the Director, Human Resources and with support of the Manager, Human Resources Operations Manager, plan, set-up, and execute annual benefits open enrollment. This includes, but not limited to, providing updated and accurate benefit plan information, coordinating open enrollment sessions with benefits broker and benefit providers, ensuring that benefit plans are set-up accurately in ECRI's Human Resources Informatics System (HRIS), and ensuring that all benefit updates are processed accordingly and accurately.
      • Review, process, and follow-up on qualifying life events submitted through the HRIS in a timely manner.
      • Ensure that all benefit compliance reporting and notices are completed on time.
      • Ensures that all benefits' related invoices are appropriately processed and resolve any discrepancies with benefit partners and internal staff.
      • Effectively communicate and provide guidance on ECRI benefit plans, policies, and procedures throughout the organization and ensure that employees understand their benefits eligibility, coverage, and other benefit related matters.
      • Support employees with benefit-related questions, including resolving complex issues as needed.
      • Coordinate with benefit vendors to answer questions, maintain benefits programs and facilitate open enrollment activities.
    • Administer ECRI's leave program, including all federal, state, and local leave laws and regulations (e.g., Family and Medical Leave Act, State Leaves, etc.). This includes, but not limited to:
      • Manage all components of the leave administration process, including, but not limited to, sending and collecting all required paperwork, tracking interconnected leaves accordingly, preparing employees to return on work within leave guidelines, completing timesheets and electronic tracking records for employees on a leave in accordance with benefits being utilized concurrently with leave (e.g., short-term disability, paid time off, etc.), etc.
      • Create and maintain leave administration files in an organized manner, ensuring that all required leave administration paperwork is completed by the employee and/or appropriate third party and all tasks are completed from start to finish.
      • Keep track of employees out on leave, including notifying the appropriate people leaders and HR Business Partners (HRBPs), as appropriate.
      • Successfully manage and track all short-term and long-term disability programs and help employees navigate the respective program for their benefit and under plan guidelines.
      • Effectively communicate and provide guidance on leave policies and procedures through the organization and ensure that employees understand their leave eligibility, rights, and other leave related matters.
      • Support employees with leave-related questions, including resolving complex issues as needed.
    • Administer ECRI's Worker's Compensation program, including, but not limited to, ensuring that all paperwork is completed in accordance with worker compensation laws, employees are notified of their rights and benefits, all appropriate reporting is done on time, etc.
    • Manage ECRI's Tuition Assistance Program, including, but not limited to, processing tuition assistance applications in accordance with program policy and ensuring that tuition reimbursement is processed and submitted to payroll.
    • Provide an overview of benefit offerings in new hire orientation and answer questions to ensure all new employees fully understand the benefits packages available.
    Additional Responsibilities:
    • Support and manage additional Human Resources (HR) tasks and projects in different HR functional areas (e.g. HR Partnership, recruitment, etc.), as required.
    • Serve as a back-up to the inbox, including answering first-level internal and external HR-related inquiries.
    • Other duties, as assigned.
    Accountability Metric(s):
    • Meet all deadlines associated with day-to-day and long-term projects.
    • Meet all goals and objectives set forth each fiscal year.
    • Keep team apprised of changes in external shifts relative to benefits and leaves of absence practices, laws and regulations. Proactively identify adjustments needed to policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure we remain compliant.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, industry, and local regulations, laws, and guidelines.
    • Design and implement benefit programs that consider the evolving needs of our workforce and support those needs.
    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience:
    • 3-5 years' experience in a Human Resources role is required.
    • Prior experience supporting benefits programs within an organization is required.
    • Prior experience with a third-party provider is preferred.
    • Familiarity with federal, state, and local benefits and leave laws and regulations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Proven ability to work autonomously and independently.
    • Proven ability to prioritize and complete competing tasks on time in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proven ability to accurately handle a variety of details and provide creative solutions.
    • Project management experience is preferred.
    • Experience processing invoices is preferred.
    Education:
    • Bachelor's degree required, with a HR or HR-related discipline preferred.
    Computer Skills:
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • Experience utilizing various systems, such as an HRIS, payroll, learning management system, e-learning catalog, etc., is preferred.
    Certifications & Licenses:
    • PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP is preferred.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    This position operates in a remote environment and requires the individual to remain in a stationary position, whether sitting or standing, before a desk or other fixed workspace, most of their workday. In addition, this position requires the individual to occasionally move about their workspace to access and inspect work-related materials, such as file cabinets with physical files and standard office equipment. This position requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, including, but not limited to, a laptop, keyboard, mouse, webcam, and phone, as well as effectively communicate information and ideas to a wide variety of audiences in written and oral form.
