Many of our initiatives focus on affording high school and undergraduate students with authentic research experiences, which include a combination of scientific skills-training and multifaceted professional development. Jumpstart, Summer Science Research Program (SSRP), and our new course-based undergraduate research program (CURE) represent our external engagement efforts. These efforts are mirrored by our internal outreach initiatives (RockEDU Fellows and RockEDU BIOME) which focus on supporting the scientists who train and mentor at RocKEDU and in their own lab spaces.
    Overview

    • Developing, synthesizing and evaluating surveys for Jumpstart, SSRP, and CURE.
    • Attending the Science Research Mentorship Consortium (SRMC) meetings to discuss programmatic objectives of RockEDU research education programs, nurture relationships with peer programs across NYC.
    • General programmatic and logistical management for SSRP, Jumpstart and CURE, including: basic lab upkeep, scheduling events, hosting relevant trainings, and onboarding students.
    • Supporting the behind-the-scenes preparatory work and curriculum-design of Jumpstart alongside the Program Manager for Research Education and the Jumpstart Fellows.
