    Position OverviewOMG currently operates in two Divisions:
    OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry.

    The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier.

    The OMG Product Development and Innovation team is focused on developing compelling and innovative new products, and improving our existing products to better meet the needs of professional contractors and building specifiers in the markets we serve.

    Reporting to the Product Development Engineering Manager, you will use a gated development process and Six Sigma tools.

    This highly rewarding position is responsible for whole project managementfrom ideation to launch, including timeline management, cross-organization communications, and overall team management.

    Position ResponsibilitiesPromote Safety as our #1 priority for all OMG employees and our customers.

    Work with Project Manager and Product Manager to define project scopeConduct jobsite Gemba with product manager to define Job To be Done (JTBD), identify current practices, existing IP and unmet needsProactively manage Intellectual Property Strategy from Provisional to Final PatentApply NPD process tools to identify and prioritize CTQ targetsIdentify and acquire internal and external development resources to generate potential solutions that meet project demandsBring potential solutions through NPD stage gate process while continuously narrowing focus toward best potential concepts for commercializationDesign experiments and testing process to evaluate effectiveness of potential conceptsEnsure manufacturability of selected solution for commercializationMinimize solution cost / maximize potential value and profitabilityDefine and conduct FMEA to maximize potential success of new productWork with Quality team to develop and implement QAQC process.

    Work with Manufacturing Engineering team to develop a manufacturing transition strategyManage 2-4 Projects concurrentlyMeasures of success are: patents, bill of materials (BOM) accuracy and final design performance Perform other related tasks as assigned.

    Position RequirementsBachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering.2 or more years of product development experience preferredDemonstrated Solid Modeling experienceSolidWorks preferredNew product development experienceDemonstrated hands-on aptitude (construction and/or mechanical)Stage Gate development process training and experience.

    Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office suiteSix Sigma Black Belt training or exposure Applied statistics Creative, tenacious and a problem solverSelf-starter, highly motivated, strong sense of personal accountabilityA commercial perspective that drives projects to successful completion Team player and coachable Excellent communication skills (written and oral)Physical RequirementsAbility to operate a motor vehicle while maintaining focus on safe driving and avoiding all distractions when behind the wheel, especially cell phones.

    Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and occasionally lift/push/pull/carry up to 25 pounds.

    Must be able to complete all essential job functions listed in the position responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
