- Represent the firm to clients and the community - may be market sector specific
- Pre-position the firm for specific pursuits
- Manage relationships with clients, competitors, partners, subconsultants, account management, and the client evaluation process
- Manage business development decisions and day-to-day program
- Mentor and train Seller-Doers and Business Development Coordinators as needed
- Contribute to
- Individual market sector strategic plans
- Annual business development plans and policies
- Benchmarking in designated markets, including competition, strategic intelligence, and market/industry trends
- Prioritizing clients and opportunities
- Client and pursuit management plans aligning with company goals
- Internal communication and distribution of business development information
- Assist, as needed, with
- Business development quality assurance and quality control
- Pursuit and proposal-related Go/No-Gos
- Proposal and SOQ development strategy
- Awards, conferences, and special events
- Research for strategic planning, growth, new markets, existing markets, clients, and projects
- Internal benchmarking for efficiency and effectiveness
- Internal and external debriefs on proposals and interviews
- Client satisfaction or feedback program
- CRM database development, strategy, and maintenance
- Project delivery, QA/QC, and lessons learned after project closeout
- Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization's mission, objectives, and goals.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or related field is required
- A Business Development Coordinator will typically have 5-10 years of professional or internship experience in the A/E/C industry.
- CPSM (Certified Professional Services Marketer) certification is desirable but not required.
- A Business Developer should be able to effectively utilize current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, and information management. Programs include:
- MS Word
- MS Excel
- MS Outlook
- MS PowerPoint
- Microsoft Dynamics, Deltek Vision, or equivalent CRM software
- Experience in the use of the following programs is desirable:
- Adobe InDesign
- Adobe Acrobat
- Open Asset
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work without close supervision in a team environment
- Thorough knowledge and mastery of marketing and business development principles, systems, and organization
- Superior oral and written communication skills required.

Description
We are seeking a Business Developer will be responsible for extending the reach of Clark Nexsen's practice in the Charlotte market, through expert discovery and exploration of new and untapped business opportunities and relationships, as well as maintaining existing client and community relationships. The candidate will focus on market sector specific responsibilities and company-wide or cross-market sector pursuits and clients. Highly skilled at sales and business operations, this person will join and inspire teams to expand our business to achieve our company vision.
Clark Nexsen is an award-winning architecture and engineering firm with a presence in the Charlotte market for more than 20 years. With a total of 10 offices and 350+ employees in the southeast, we are continuously growing and attracting top talent.

Physical Requirements
