    Minimum Qualifications
    Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Bachelor of Science and MS or equivalent/comparable science degree and two years of Quality Management or Quality Assurance experience. Knowledge of implementation, monitoring and maintaining a Quality System. Experience in participating in and leading auditing procedures. Excellent communication skills both interpersonal, oral and written. Familiarity with the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD) Quality Standard and requirements. Experience using Lab information Management Systems (LIMs). Familiarity with poultry, veterinary medicine and/or diagnostic testing. Leadership experience.

    Position Summary
    This position is responsible for overseeing aspects of laboratory operations at the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Centers (PDRC) Diagnostic Services Lab. The Operations Manager will also serve in the role of Project Manager and administrator of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and the Client Portal for PDRC Diagnostic Lab. The incumbent will manage laboratory inventory, including reagents, consumables, and equipment maintenance schedules. This position will develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), working with the guidance of the Quality manager, to ensure consistency and accuracy of the diagnostic processes. The incumbent will directly oversee sample processing, testing procedures and results reporting for the serology section and will work at the direction of (and/or in the absence of) the Lab Manager II to oversee and coordinate sample and resulting flow to/from 6 laboratory sections (Accession, Necropsy, Virology, histopathology, Bacteriology and Mycoplasmology). This position will recruit, train, and supervise laboratory personnel, including the serology technician and student worker(s). The incumbent will also provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities to support continuous improvement of staff skills and knowledge. The operations manager will serve as a key point of contact for clients, veterinarians and other stakeholders regarding laboratory services, test results, and invoices. Client communication and collaboration to assist in connecting clients with information for sample submission, interpretation of results and recommendations for further action will be expected.

    • Manage implementation and updates to LIM system by consulting with section heads or technicians as needed to determine their needs.
    • Present the requests to the programmers, receiving quotes for work orders, following up with programmers for timelines, reviewing and testing new functions and confirming completion of work orders.

    • Distribute invoices to clients for payment, follow up with client accounts payable as needed and follow up on delinquent accounts to insure payment of invoices.
