The Global Director of Supplier Quality reports to the VP of Supply Chain Quality.This new role within Varian is responsible for managing the newly integrated global supplier quality team that is responsible for overall supplier quality working closely with our cross functional partners (procurement, engineering, supply chain and service).
The supplier quality organization includes both the strategic and operational components of supplier quality with 3 regional teams globally. Directs and guides the activities of a function responsible for interfacing with product development and supplier engineering to provide materials and components for company product manufacturing.
Develops systems and procedures for selecting and monitoring vendors and suppliers to ensure their ability to meet engineering and quality standards and that parts and materials received meet requirements in a cost-effective manner.
Establishes requirements for suppliers to achieve process and quality standards for GMPs.Facilitates development of team/partner relationships with vendors/suppliers and maintains relationships for long-term contracts for delivery of high quality components and materials.
Conducts supplier facility surveys of potential critical components providers. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.Performs all required management responsibilities including but not limited to:
implementing the company's policies, programs, and guidelines; managing resources; and maintaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for managing immediate organization.
Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Workday) or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired. Bachelors Degree or equivalent. 7 years management experience.Strong influencing, building and maintaining successful and effective trust-based working relationships with direct reports, management peers and other colleagues.
Proven experience in project and change management, process excellence, business management techniques and organizational development.Knowledge of supplier quality requirements for a medical device company and best practices that should be followed globally.
Deep technical experience in supply chain and manufacturing operations (including non-conformance cost reduction initiatives, etc.) in a medical device, automotive, or related industry with deep compliance requirements
Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of related experience or Master's degree with 6+ years of related experience in both strategic and tactical roles.
Deep experience leading global supplier quality organizations in a regulated industry.Strong business acumen with, at minimum, a working knowledge and understanding of Supplier Quality, Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, Regulatory
Proven experience and track record of establishing specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound team goals, objectives, and expectations with clear direction and delegation to meet the project goals and objectives.
Capability to deliver large scale cross-functional process improvement projects at a global (multi-site) level.Competency in developing, organizing, and prioritizing key executive leadership and committee activities to facilitate strategic decision making and achieving support through the presentation of data-based quality models and ROI gains.
Experience in overseeing the measurement and reporting of performance, ensuring that data is accurately collected, analyzed, and communicated to stakeholders at all levels.
Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams (i.e.procurement, engineering, supply chain, service and product quality, etc.) in developing and maintaining globally standardized key performance indicators (KPIs) that result in concrete, actionable recommendations for the relevant cross-functional teams.
Technical proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP HANA, SAP Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and SAP Manufacturing IntegrationPossession of excellent data analysis and visualization skills using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView or similar.
Ability to independently and proactively identify areas for improvement, drive benchmarking initiatives by measuring and comparing the performance, efficiency, or quality of a product, service, or process against the industry best practices and initiate change to improve efficiency, quality and decrease the non-conformance costs.
Thorough understanding of problem solving and non-conformance management standards and methodologies.May be expected to travel up to 30% of the time.
