    The Opportunity


    As the Senior Sales Director, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Be accountable for sales within the defined client segment
    • Be responsible for managing sales across the Army, Navy, Air Force and other DoD and non DoD clients
    • Support Design Services Business Line leadership and Key Account Managers for follow-on sales
    • Mentor/develop client-facing Program Director and Project Manager professionals within the Business

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Development of Sales in Europe
    • Communicating goals and strategies, and team collaboration
    • Develop sales business objectives to implement throughout the organization on which to measure success and productivity

    Assigned to projects for U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

    The Team


    The Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp. has its mission to provide a full range of services to our primary client base - U.S. Government agencies and departments. With the unique skill sets we have developed during the 100-plus years of service to our U.S. Government agencies client base, we are able to provide one-of-a-kind solutions to complex mission objectives that arise out of specific challenges faced by and unique to these agencies. Our primary areas of focus are: Architecture/Engineering (A/E) Services, Defense Program, Design/Build, Classified, and Environmental.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Reports to the Director, Business Development
    • Provides mentoring and professional development to Program Director and Project Managers and to clients within his/her defined client segment
    • Responsible for supporting the Director, Business Development in strategic planning, and development of tactics to grow market share within his/her defined client segment to meet Business objectives
    • Responsible for leading the planning and execution of sales strategies for their defined client segment
    • Oversight of the development and cultivation of a well-qualified sales pipeline using automated customer relationship management tools (e g SalesForce CRM)
    • Gain and share understanding of client segment's organization, budgets, priorities and strategies, processes, and decision-making structures
    • Effectively negotiate with multiple levels of executive management within prospective client and teaming partner organizations
    • Ability to organize and execute effective public speaking and written media with practice related organizations within the industry
    • Use in-depth knowledge and insight of key competitors to create compelling reasons for clients to engage with the company
    • Communicate the status of opportunities, clearly articulate next steps and discuss potential risks with the wider sales and account management team in meetings

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Engineering or Construction degree is desired
    • Previous Federal and/or outside continental US contracting sales desirable
    • Proven management track record and ability to influence and manage teams
    • Previous proven external, customer sales success
    • Strong knowledge and overall understanding of U S government and/or outside continental US contracting industry; knowledge of Federal and/or outside continental US budgeting, industry business drivers and motivators
    • Experience leading strategy and marketing for Federal acquisitions; demonstrated experience in working with cross-functional teams and a variety of stakeholders, and in developing and executing strategies to deliver business results
    • Understanding of financial metrics including EBIT, PGM, revenue, overhead costs, profit and loss, and project financials
    • Provides candid and constructive performance feedback through timely goal setting, reviews, and counseling Ability to sell; strong negotiating and persuasive skills
    • Strong business acumen and leadership skills
    • Shows strength, strong decision-making skills, and success in the face of ambiguity or obstacle

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree, related field or technical discipline
    • 5+ years consultative and/ or management experience
    • 10-12 years engineering/ construction industry experience including 5+ years U.S. government contracting industry experience and/or outside continental US experience
    • Complete understanding of capture, proposal, and solution development including contract cost and pricing principles for acquiring new and follow-on business
