    JOB DESCRIPTION

    CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

    Starting Salary Range: $220,000 - $240,000 annually

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    HomeRise seeks a dynamic, principled, and highly skilled professional to lead the financial and business operations of this complex nonprofit environment. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) oversees all Financial and Accounting activity of HomeRise and its affiliates.

    Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer is a key member of HomeRises Management Team, providing leadership and guidance to the organization on strategic financial planning, and resource allocation issues. The CFO establishes systems for financial controls, risk management and regulatory compliance. The CFO is responsible for directly managing accounting, tax, and financial reporting functions; budgeting, treasury, cash flow and financing activities; asset management functions of property management. The CFO maintains relationships with financial partners and provides leadership in strategic planning and policy development.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Financial Management

    • closely with the Controller who will:
    • HomeRises accounting staff and consultants in the completion of all accounting tasks.
    • Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of all financial record keeping systems.
    • preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements and create accompanying performance analysis and commentary.
    • for cash management, including cash flow, internal transfers, and banking relationships.
    • all internal and external audits.
    • and support Directors on financial concerns related to their departments or programs. Lead annual agency budget development and revisions and monitor budget compliance.
    • development of general fund, building operations and development budgets.
    • financial results and prepare a monthly report for the Chief Executive Officer and quarterly report for the Board of Directors.
    • compliance with all HomeRise financial performance requirements.
    • the financial performance of housing managed by HomeRise.
    • and work closely with the Human Resource Department.
    • and work closely with the Information Technology personnel and contractors.
    • closely with the Chief Executive Officer on budgeting and long-term financial planning for the agency.
    • and support the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors on issues related to HomeRises finances and assets.

    Budgeting, Planning, and Policy Development

    • financial leadership role in developing corporate strategic and business plans, work closely with Management Team members on departmental levels.
    • financial forecasts, models or analyses as needed or required to support both short term decision making and longer-term strategic planning.
    • financial leadership role in corporate policy development.
    • closely with Board of Directors, Finance and Audit Committees.

    Risk Management, Treasury, and Cash Flow

    • cash & investments to appropriately balance risk, return and liquidity.
    • for managing general HomeRise service contracts.
    • closely with Chief Operations Officer, Vice Presidents and Directors on tasks related to the successful management of the organization.
    • other senior managers, represent the company to financial partners including financial institutions, investors, foundation executives, public officials, and others.

    Asset Management

    • HomeRises Asset Management Department consultants and employees.
    • for developing, updating, and implementing HomeRises strategic asset management plan.
    • leadership for all financial aspects of HomeRises real estate portfolio of 17 affordable housing sites.
    • ongoing assessments of operating reserve funding, maintenance needs and regulatory compliance.

    Technology Management

    Ensure high-level functioning of HomeRises YARDI software systems, including:

    • eLearning and overall system capabilities as needed.
    • oversight of and upgrades to the financial software component of YARDI.
    • up and administration of YARDI software systems to ensure adequate infrastructure.
    • Information Technology function and sub-contracted service.

    Miscellaneous

    • in Executive Team, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors meetings.
    • as the staff liaison for the Finance and Audit committees of the Board of Directors.
    • overall leadership in the ongoing management and future development of HomeRise.
    • duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Competencies

    • of 10 years of experience in managing accounting departments and consolidation of multiple locations, complicated cash flow management, process improvement, and managing and performing independent audits. Knowledge of non-profits and property management is preferred.
    • to combine strategic, policy, and planning perspective with attention to details, internal controls, and other concerns.
    • computer skills including general ledger software (Yardi system knowledge preferred), word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and a working knowledge of information technology, both existing and emerging. Experience in managing the IT infrastructure organization wide.

    • Status: Full-Time / Exempt
    • Work Schedule: Generally, Monday - Friday 9 AM - 5 PM
