    Position Description:


    The Associate Director, Prospect Management & Research (Senior Director) is responsible for building and managing a comprehensive prospect management and research (PM&R) program.

    The Senior Director and the PM&R program will work closely with Development leadership, fundraisers, IT Department, and other university-wide stakeholders to plan, develop, and implement prospect strategies that maximize philanthropic engagement and organizational performance.

    The Senior Director will build a comprehensive prospect management and research program which will include leading a team whose primary responsibilities are (1) working collaboratively with fundraising staff to maintain revenue- generating unit fundraising portfolios (2) implement best practice guidelines for PM&R (3) research prospective prospects (4) mine data and (5) and report on prospect identification metrics.

    The Senior Director will develop processes and procedures that will implement industry best practices including assessing wealth, updating constituent data, and creating guidelines for the analysis of data on donor prospects for the University.

    The Senior Director will work collaboratively with advancement leadership to implement approaches that increase the donor pipeline for both the Belknap and HSC campuses.


    Responsibilities include planning, implementing, coordinating, and administering the prospect development program with an emphasis on partnering with fundraisers in all our units.

    The Senior Director and their team will implement industry best practice standards through partnership across division to identify and move prospects into relationship management strategies.

    Additionally, they will work closely with AVPs of Belknap and HSC and with the Prospect Research Manager for UofL Health to ensure coordination and compliance of all prospect development policies and procedures, fostering a positive environment of collaboration among colleagues.

    The Senior Director serves as an active member of the overall Development team and develops strong partnerships while expanding the organizational understanding of how data can be synthesized powerfully to inform fundraising strategy.

    Duties & Responsibilities


    Develop strategies to identify new sources of top-tier wealth, trace existing sources and identify prospects through electronic screening, target data mining, data modeling, and other best practices.

    Maintain guidelines for best practices for wealth assessment.
    Partner with fundraisers on portfolio hygiene on an ongoing basis.
    Supervise and mentor prospect management and research staff. Track progress and ensure accountability through individual meetings and performance reviews as needed. Provide ongoing training and mentoring.
    Serve as the prospect management lead, promoting an unequivocal transparent prospect assignment process for all programs.

    Track work productivity, report on prospect identification metrics, and produce metrics on prospect movement from identification stage into qualification and assignment.

    Direct completion of presidential level research briefings, delivering these in a timely manner.
    Collaborate with the IT department to make recommendations for database modifications needed to support effective reporting and analysis. Ensure the accuracy of the information captured.
    Compose concise analytical reports that synthesize material effectively and present a well-reasoned case.

    Identify, investigate, analyze, organize, and evaluate information from a variety of sources (electronic and print) to determine the financial capacity, philanthropic interests, and relationship to the university of our highest-level donors and prospects.

    Employ advanced search techniques for electronic information sources and proprietary databases.
    Maintain confidentiality of information in the department according to established procedures.
    Manage own schedule, monitor progress, and reprioritize as necessary, and complete work on time with minimal supervision.
    Preferred Qualifications


    Prior experience extracting and analyzing information from complex databases; strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software and databases; superior written and oral communication skills, particularly concerning highly technical concepts; demonstrated project management ability, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to initiate and apply creative solutions and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in order to complete work on time with minimal supervision; professionalism, maturity, and an ability to work with and maintain strict confidentiality of privileged information.

    Must be dependable and possess tact and good ethical judgment.

    Competencies

    Proficient with CRM software - Blackbaud preferred.
    Excellent Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills required.
    Proficient in MS Outlook, Teams, Zoom.
    Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    Must be well organized and able to meet deadlines.
