    Job Description

    Job Summary:
    As an Associate Program Manager, you'll spearhead client programs' journey from their inception to completion, playing a pivotal role in shaping the success of both our company and our clients. This position is more than managing tasks; it's about leading with innovation, foresight, and a commitment to excellence and accountability.

    Responsible for the cost, implementation and performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of business plans, work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract. Ensures the development process is congruent with current market trends, program goals, and client needs. Acts as the primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and performance. Develops new business or expands the product line with the client. Analyzes problem/opportunity areas of assigned programs and evaluates options. Evaluates performance and makes recommendations on marketing actions. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to program plans and schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications. Determines the profitability and viability of new products or program enhancements. Develops strategies and tactics to ensure effective program performance relative to market opportunity, working closely with company functional groups over the entire life cycle. Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, marketing, operations, analytics, and administrative areas.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Direct Leadership: Own and lead all facets of 2-3 small- medium programs, while also playing a critical role in supporting a suite of large-scale, complex, and high-profile projects. Your guidance will be the compass that steers these programs towards success.
    • Client Partnership: Become the primary point of contact for our clients, leading discussions on cost, schedule, and performance that solidify trust and foster long-term partnerships.
    • Strategic Negotiation and Planning: Dive into contract negotiations, business planning, and setting financial benchmarks. Your strategic acumen will ensure our programs not only meet but exceed our ambitious goals.
    • Market Insight and Development: With your finger on the pulse of market trends, program goals, and client needs, you'll be the visionary who aligns our development process with the broader market landscape.
    • Innovation and Growth: Identify new business opportunities and expand our product line with the client, turning challenges into opportunities and ideas into reality.
    • Execute scopes of work for compliance and client satisfaction
    • Direct and coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, marketing, software development) typically consisting of 3-7 people
    • May have direct people management with span of control for 1-4 people
    • Projects and programs have moderate complexity and risk (typically established programs)
    • May create technical content & intellectual property
    What We're Looking For:
    • Proximity to San Diego, CA; must be within driving distance to San Diego for in-person meetings with our internal team and clients (typically monthly or quarterly).
    • A creative and proactive problem-solver who's not afraid to think outside the box.
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel, and ideally with Power BI experience or a keenness to master new technical tools.
    • A dynamic individual ready to take ownership, drive initiatives, and lead by example.
    Education, Experience, and Skills:
    • Relevant work experience plus 2-4 years project management
    • 1+ years people management
    • Bachelor's degree
