    Job Description:
    The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half-Day Program is seeking a Dance Instructor


    PART TIME


    The dance curriculum includes ballet technique (Vaganova), Modern (Cunningham, Horton, Graham or Limon), Improvisation, Composition, Repertory, Dance Skills and Dance History.

    Elective classes are offered in Pointe, Jazz, and other styles. The successful applicant will be required to teach 2 to 3 of these classes/styles.


    Responsibilities include:


    Implementation and assessment of lessons to meet the need of all learners, recording of daily attendance, preparation of grades and comments on interim and quarterly reports for all students, regular communication with parents regarding student progress, participating in meetings with parents, representation of your art department at student concerts, productions, and recruitment activities, attending evening performances and open houses, participating in regular faculty meetings as well as professional development activities, preparation of documentation necessary to support department and school events, activities and curriculum development.

    Other duties as needed.


    Requirements:

    Minimum requirement:

    a current State Department of Education Adjunct Instructor Permit /or BA/BFA in Dance performance or education, plus relevant performing and teaching experience.

    Eligibility for a Connecticut State Department of Education Adjunct Arts Instructor Permit required, requirements for permit eligibility:
    (1) hold a bachelor's degree from an institution of higher education accredited by the Board of Governors of Higher Education, or regionally accredited, (2) have a minimum of three years of work experience in the arts or one year of work and two years of specialized schooling related to the applicant's artistic specialty, and (3) at least one hundred eighty hours of cumulative experience working with children in a private or public setting, including, but not limit to, afterschool programs, group lessons, children's theater, dance studio lessons, and artist-in-residence programs, or at least two years' experience as a full-time faculty member at an institution of higher education or been employed by an eligible inter-district magnet school prior to July 1,2011 and for at least one year.
