    ABOUT LEADERSHIP GREATER CHICAGO (LGC):


    Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC) is the region's premier civic leadership development incubator, delivering the knowledge and network to lead bold, transformative change.

    LGC convenes, connects, and mobilizes the area's most promising leaders around key socioeconomic issues through dynamic education and experiential activities.

    These diverse individuals represent the most prominent corporate, nonprofit, government and education organizations.

    Since its founding in 1983 by The Chicago Community Trust, LGC has developed more than 1,300 leaders through its Signature Fellows Program –– an intensive 10-month exploration of current socioeconomicissues that provides the foundation for a lifelong commitment to civic engagement.

    Fellows learn from a diversity of opinions, styles and world views, and develop the capacity to approach and break down complex problems to drive transformative change in effective andcoll

    aborative ways.

    In 2019, LGC launched The Daniel Burnham Fellowship – an accelerated civic onboarding experience for senior executives who in their roles are able to play a part in shaping the future of Chicago.

    While beneficial to any executive, it is especially beneficialforthose who arenew to Chicago and provides a rich introductionto an executivenew to their role and with market facing responsibilities.

    The Fellowship is designed to inspire these leaders to mobilize and exert their combined influence and intellect to positively impact Chicago, its future and the continued economic progress of the region for all.

    To date, nearly 120 C-suite executives have participated in this innovative leadership experience.

    Job Description:


    Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Director of Finance and Operations will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, accounting, budgeting, and organization operations to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    Finance:
    Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to support the organization's mission and goals.
    Manage all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
    Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    Monitor cash flow, investment activities, and financial performance to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulations.
    Provide financial analysis and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making by the leadership team and Board of Directors.
    Ensure all financial policies, procedures and documentation requirements are adequate to protect the organization.

    Accounting and Budget:
    Supervise and manage the organization's accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.

    Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and maintenance of financial records in accordance with GAAP and relevant regulations.

    Develop and monitor annual budgets in collaboration with the executive leadership team.
    Manage the annual budget development process, monitor expenditures and variances, and update income and expense projections.
    Develop and manage general ledger and fund accounting systems and procedures.
    Perform all balance sheet reconciliations (bank accounts, investments, prepaids, deposits, accruals, depreciation, etc.) and prepare month-end close.
    Track and analyze budget variances and provide explanations and recommendations as needed.
    Coordinate annual audits and tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
    Manage grant and donor receivables and coordinate tracking with the Development team.
    Manage and monitor expenditures with third party providers including consultants, service providers, technology platforms, etc.

    Organization Operations:
    Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization, including facilities management, human resources, and administrative functions.
    Oversee management and maintenance of all office systems and technology platforms.
    Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness, including operationalizing Salesforce and Quickbooks platforms.
    Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to non-profit operations, including employment law, insurance, and risk management.
    Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for goods and services.
    Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement initiatives to streamline operations and reduce costs.

    Able to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and thrive in a fast-paced environment typical of non-profit organizations.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
    Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or operations leadership, preferably in the non-profit sector.
    Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations, including GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations.
    Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

    Experience with financial management software such as QuickBooks and Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud and databases commonly used in non-profit organizations for donor management, fundraising, and program evaluation.

    Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and reporting requirements governing non-profit organizations, including IRS Form 990.

    Compensation and Benefits:
