    Description


    Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe R&D Process Engineer works closely with the R&D & Sales team to help transition newly developed products and/or processes into profitable opportunities.

    Project management for internal projects (e.g. raw material substitution and product enhancements) and customer requests. Interacts with our customers' technical teams to support sales growth and customer satisfaction.

    Conducts applied research and product/process development in support of new and existing products at the laboratory, pilot scale, and manufacturing plant environment.

    Reports into the Quality Manager.
    RequirementsJob Duties and Responsibilities

    • Coordinate with R&D, Sales, and Production personnel and take trial product and concepts into commercial production.
    • Oversee scale up trials and provide technical feedback to production as needed.
    • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes (all processes, from coater to test method)
    • Ensure ALL laboratory and organization support activities compliant to established ISO9001:2015 and ISO17025:2017 certifications, accreditations, and scope.
    • Support PPAP and similar documentation requests from customers.
    • Manage and prioritize multiple ongoing tasks including planning quality and technical programs.
    • Developing and applying an extensive knowledge of product applications
    • Interact with the technical team at customers to become a trusted resource. Assist in troubleshooting of customer production or technical issues.
    • Lead new raw material approval qualifications.
    • Maintain detailed records of observations and testing from all application efforts.
    • Build relationships with current and new vendors.
    • Utilizing resources across work areas, departments, and businesses to create technology solutions to unique problems that may affect business direction.
    • Assuring effective cross-functional working relationships across laboratory and business entities, and leads this effort by strong example.
    • Other duties as needed/required to meet company goals.
    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Science or Engineering from an accredited university
    • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a laboratory environment
    • Experience with laboratory operations and/or laboratory management
    • Knowledge of ISO9001 or ISO17025 a plus.
    • Knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) a plus.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry our instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
