- Performs secretarial duties for the Nursing Unit.
- Answers patient call signals and obtains appropriate assistance
- Assists in orientation of new Unit Secretaries and Unit Assistants
- May be reassigned to another area to assist in the provision of secretarial support by Nurse Manager, Staffing Supervisor or Nursing Supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- Secretarial training desirable; typing, computer entry, and simple math
- Current CPR Card
- Hospital or medical related experience preferred.
- Must communicate effectively (both written and verbally), be organized and self directed.
- First contact with visitors, medical staff.
- Daily contact with patients, staff from Nursing and other departments.
- Telephone contact for all inquiries for the Unit.
- Primarily a sedentary job, some lifting and/or pushing carts, wheelchairs and equipment may be required.
