    Description

    Macha is a small fine jewelry business with a DIY attitude based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Our store is relatively new and continually evolving. We appreciate staff members who are team players, self-motivated and willing to participate during the down times as well as the busy periods.

    The fine jewelry business is detail oriented and requires observing procedures.

    We are committed to sustainability and are continually trying to improve our footprint.

    Greenpoint has a close knit community & we love to support our local neighborhood.

    We are looking for an experienced full time retail store manager to join the team. As store manager your key responsibilities are

    • Maintaining high levels of presentation in store and of staff.
    • Responsible for store sales and service, profitability, operations, loss prevention, talent acquisition, and merchandising.
    • Ensuring store is fully staffed during opening times
    • Motivation & management of the store staff
    • Developing processes & procedures to continuously elevate the customer experience, and overall growth of the business.

    This position is based out of our Greenpoint store, and over 50% of the managers time is spent on the shop floor. There are also opportunities to gain experience in other aspects of the business after store responsibilities are met.

    Detailed Responsibility Examples

    Operations

    • Supervising the daily operations of the store (ie. Opening/Closing, shipments, receipts, scheduling, floor coverage, website maintenance
    • Collaborate with manager in areas of risk management, store cash controls, inventory management.
    • Understand and properly execute all management register functions. Solve related issues.
    • Help plan & manage store budget.
    • Collaborate with owner for deliveries, orders and shipments.
    • Cross reference with owner to plan retail calendar.
    • Manage store phone & email.
    • Manage PR for loan in/outs if necessary
    • Planning and forecasting for store and staff.
    • Purchasing marketing, packaging and necessary products to ensure smooth functionality of the store & selling experience

    Staff Recruitment and Retention

    • Hire staff as needed and provide staff with store schedules.
    • Organizes retail staff schedule, ensuring shifts are adequately covered. Assists in store staffing by recruiting, on-boarding, training & developing the best candidates.
    • Ensure image and grooming standards of staff are professional, reflective of the brand and adhered to at all times.
    • Serves as a role model and coach to ensure that all associates have a high level of product knowledge regarding target customers, product range and selling arguments
    • Recruit, train, and develop all store staff to ensure our teams are meeting our customer service standards, professional personal grooming and security protocols are met
    • Developing training plans for new employees using company tools and knowledge while monitoring and maintaining existing staff's learning and development
    • Maintains thorough awareness of policies, store operations and product knowledge; informs employees of any product updates, policy changes and other company communication
    • Supports, encourages, and develops staff to provide the highest level of customer service
    • Assists sales associates with any customer service challenges or specific customer requests (i.e. dissatisfied customer, returns, damaged merchandise, customer orders) and has the capacity to know when to step in an escalated situation gracefully

    Marketing and Visuals

    • Ensure the maintenance of the store is completed.
    • Ensure the store is neat, clean and organized inside and out.
    • Implementation and maintenance of all visual merchandising.
    • Helps the owner ensure a continuous updating and styling of the showroom to optimize sales, space management and presentation of the product range, according to brand guidelines

    Event management and marketing Activities

    • Partner with owner to manage retail staff projects
    • Partner with owner and volunteers for in store events
    • Manages marketing activities of store staff
    • Assists in planning and implementing required marketing activities, PR and events according to overall Marketing Plan and activity guidelines to ensure a continuous traffic flow

    Sales generation

    • Review and plan business objectives to meet monthly/quarterly sales goals
    • Provide the highest level of customer service.
    • Build and maintain repeat clientele.
    • Implement systems to help retail associates maintain repeat clientele. Ensure associates are adhering to procedures.
    • Resolve all client problems and complaints quickly and effectively.
    • Provide assistance to all customers with special attention to customer service issues.
    • Meet store sales goals.
    • Tracking, monitoring, and communication of the business results to the owner
    • Ensure an elevated level of sales and service is practiced by all employees; lead by example.
    • Development of sales techniques to optimize sales and customer satisfaction.
    • Ensure all sales related policies and procedures are maintained.
    • Develop and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the creations.
    • Maintain a keen interest in the jewelry industry and market trends.

    Successful Managers should have:

    • Good common sense and an ability to problem solve.
    • Previous leadership experience, or willingness to develop these skills quickly
    • 1-5 years of retail management experience prefered
    • Candidate should be goal oriented with the ability to multi-task
    • Excellent communication skills (writing, listening, speaking, presenting).
    • Experience in selling fine jewelry, specialty, luxury and or lifestyle consumer goods strongly preferred
    • Experience working within a branded concept is preferred
    • Strong recruiting, interviewing, and staffing skills
    • Superior customer service skills
    • A passionate and enthusiastic personality
    • Experience working with IT systems, Shopify, POS, google email/drive, Slack
    • Budgeting, marketing and inventory management experience
