    Job Description

    The Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center at Old Dominion University invites applicants for a Research faculty appointment as Research Assistant/Associate or Professor of Modeling & Simulation, Instructional Technologies, Data Science, and Healthcare beginning June 10, 2024. This is a 12-month appointment that is ineligible for tenure. The selected candidate will supervise and conduct applied research and development in their selected field of expertise. They will be expected to:

  • Submit proposals for funded research;
  • Create teams to support research;
  • Generate research funding to support research initiatives;
  • Publish research papers, peer review articles, and conference papers; and
  • Attend conferences to further research initiatives.
  • Candidates with an existing research portfolio are strongly encouraged to apply. Position Type FullTime Type of Recruitment General Public Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities Candidates must have at least 5 years of demonstrated research experience and a demonstrated ability to seek, propose, and be awarded funded research. Minimum Qualifications - Education or training Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Modeling & Simulation, Instructional Technologies, Data Science, or Healthcare. Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification N/A Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with:
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated research experience in the areas of M&S, instructional technologies, data science, or healthcare;
  • A strong publication record; and/or
  • Experience with grant-funded and/or community-based research.
