Job Summary


The Student Affairs Staff Assistant supports the administrative and clerical needs of the Director of Student Affairs, Faculty, Administrative Staff, and Students.

The Office of Dental Education (ODE) Staff Assistant works full-time and on-site and is the first point of contact for visitors and inquiries.


This is a 6-month term position from date of hire.

Position Description

Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Answers the main ODE phone line.
  • Schedules appointments for the Deans and Directors in the ODE.
  • Does administrative tasks for the Deans and Directors in the ODE.
  • Manages the Schoolwide room booking system and policies.
  • Organizes parking and catering for ODE meetings and events.
  • Tracks ODE committee meeting dates and sends reminders.
  • Manages distribution of lockers and mailboxes
  • Orders and distributes student MBTA passes.
  • Helps Curriculum Services with room booking, communications, curriculum feedback and other duties.
  • Handles office mail and deliveries.
  • Helps with standardized exams and exam accommodations.
  • Supports the school's accreditation process.
  • Updates ODE section of HSDM website.
  • Orders office supplies and stationery.
  • Contributes to the mission and vision of HSDM and models the School's core values in all facets of the work.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Basic Qualifications
years of professional office experience. Experience in an academic setting preferred. Education beyond high school may count toward experience.

  • Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check at hire.

Physical Requirements

  • May be required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.

Working Conditions

  • The primary work location for this position is Boston, MA. Per the University payroll policy all work (including remote) must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business. In order to be on Harvard payroll, you must reside in a University payroll registered state.

Additional Information
Compensation Range (hourly rate): Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity. Generally new hires can expect compensation between the minimum and midpoint of the range.

Minimum $29.91

Midpoint $38.32

Maximum $46.73


Work Format Details

  • This position is based primarily oncampus, in Massachusetts. This may include inperson during emergency situations (if applicable). Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
