Scientist - Quantitative Development Biology (Jacobo Group) - San Francisco, CA, United States - Chan Zuckerberg Biohub - San Francisco
Description
The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub San Francisco ( CZ Biohub SF ) ( ) is an independent nonprofit research institute that brings together three powerhouse universities - Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UC San Francisco - into a single collaborative technology and discovery engine. CZ Biohub SF itself supports some of the brightest, boldest engineers, data scientists, and biomedical researchers to investigate the fundamental mechanisms underlying disease and develop new technologies that will lead to actionable diagnostics and effective therapies. We are guided by our values of scholarly excellence; disruptive innovation; hands-on engineering/hacking/building; partnership and collaboration; open communication and respect; inclusiveness; and opportunity for all.Our Vision
The Jacobo Group is building an interdisciplinary team of researchers with experience in biology, physics, computer science, and microscopy. We are looking for a PhD level scientist to join us and be an integral part of this effort. Our group wants to study, at a quantitative level, how cell-cell communication leads to the formation of organs in a self-organizing process. To do so we will use zebrafish as a model system and combine cutting-edge live microscopy, gene editing techniques, deep-learning-based data analysis, and mathematical modeling. To this aim, we are looking for a candidate with experience in zebrafish transgenesis.
