- Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner/Chief Operating Officer, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, manage administrative, analytical, procedural and operational work for the Deputy Commissioner/Chief Operating Officer.
- Supervise the Deputy Commissioner's administrative staff and coordinate day to day activities of the division.
- Serve as a liaison to the Commissioner's office, other Parks divisions and other city agencies.
- Work with senior management to support daily and seasonal operations and implement agency strategic priorities and divisional initiatives.
- Liaise with elected officials and constituent groups on operations and other matters.
- Spearhead special projects, identify emerging issues, troubleshoot and advise the Deputy Commissioner.
- Assist with the development, implementation and oversight of performance metrics.
- Prepare briefings, compile data, produce reports and track projects.
- Promote Parks operations in the public and private sectors.
- Attend agency, community board and other meetings and events on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner.

Minimum Qualifications
1.

An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and five years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in "1" above, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity.
The supervisory work must have been in the supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of
satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in "1"
above, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial,
executive or supervisory capacity. The supervisory work must have been in the
supervision of staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than
moderate difficulty; or
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. However, all
candidates must possess the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1", "2" or "3" above.
Education abovethe high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative
experience (but not for the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory
experience described in "1", "2" or "3" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits
from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 31⁄2
years.
Preferred Skills
1.Excellent writing, supervisory, administrative and interpersonal skills.2.Excellent public speaking and presentation experience.3.Working knowledge of Parks' operating structure, sites and facilities.4.Familiarity with geographic layout of all five Boroughs.5.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.6.Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).7.Valid New York State driver license.
