    Director of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

    Department: Marketing, Analytics & Customer Service

    Location: Boston, MA

    America's Test Kitchen is seeking a Director of SEO to lead our search engine optimization efforts and drive organic traffic growth across our digital platforms. As a critical member of our Marketing organization , you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive SEO strategies, optimizing our content for search visibility, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. In success, you will leverage Search to increase brand awareness, acquire new members, and fuel growth in our digital subscription business.     Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement effective SEO strategies to increase organic traffic and improve search engine rankings for our website, app, YouTube channel and other digital content
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Editorial, Marketing, and Analytics, to create a "North Star Vision" for SEO, inclusive of a prioritization framework designed to drive maximum impact. Integrate SEO across business initiatives, while aligning with broader company vision for our brand, our content and our suite of digital products
    • Partner with our Editorial teams to create a content strategy that is specifically tailored to grow organic search traffic, while honoring our brand tenants and the trust we have developed with millions of home cooks. Assess opportunities to organize & curate our existing library of content (thousands of recipes, product reviews, articles and videos), while refining our approach to new content development
    • Perform keyword research to identify high-potential keywords, phrases and unique trends relevant to our target audience. Ensure alignment between SEO and Paid Search strategies to deliver performance improvement in both areas
    • Conduct thorough website audits to identify technical SEO opportunities and provide recommendations for improvement to our Product & Development teams
    • Collaborate with content creators, editors, and designers to ensure SEO best practices are integrated into content creation and publishing processes
    • Optimize on-page elements such as titles, meta descriptions, headings, and content structure to enhance search visibility and user experience
    • Monitor and analyze website performance metrics using tools like Google Analytics and Search Console, and provide regular reports on SEO performance, traffic trends, and key insights
    • Stay informed about industry trends, algorithm updates, best practices, tools, and technology in the SEO landscape, proactively identify opportunities for optimization and growth
    • Monitor the competitive landscape and industry developments, and leverage insights to inform strategic decision-making and enhance our competitive advantage

    Qualifications

    • 8+ years of digital marketing experience with a minimum of 5 years in an SEO leadership role
    • Proven track record of driving organic traffic growth and optimizing content for search engines in a digital publishing or media environment
    • Deep understanding of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and SEO best practices, with hands-on experience in keyword research, on-page optimization, link building and technical SEO
    • Proficiency in SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, Moz, Brightedge, etc, with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and derive actionable insights. Ability to translate SEO insights into actionable strategies for content creators and product teams
    • Editorially-minded content-savvy perspective on SEO, with deep respect for premium quality content and an appreciation for the value that brand plays in building consumer relationships
    • Experience with subscription business models, navigating SEO opportunities in light of paywalls, meters, and locked content
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interface with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization
    • Affinity for food, cooking, and culinary culture, with a genuine interest in creating engaging and informative content that resonates with our audience
    • Passion for digital media, lifestyle content, and the opportunity to optimize a digital content ecosystem with tens of thousands of evergreen assets

    This position is located in our Boston, MA office in the Seaport district. Our organization is currently following a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and 2 days remote per week. This schedule is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
