Experience
Pfizer, Andover, Massachusetts, USA
Manufacturing engineer - Pfizer Global Supply, Production Operations, Tech Transfer May 2023 - August 2023
- Authored a standard operating procedure (SOP) individually on a new slurry determination step, resulting in an effective chromatography concentration assessment. The implementation resulted in substantial time savings of at least 40% to pack a column.
- Proactively reviewed batch records and identified technician’s comments indicating operational errors; took the initiative to lead the workflow for SOP revision, version updates, and supported the troubleshooting of technical issues during the initial stages of production.
- Facilitated document workflow by actively reviewing and providing valuable comments on colleagues' documents using the Pdoc system, coordinated departments and QA to ensure documents were in adherence to internal guidelines, and promoted accuracy in document creation.
- Acquired valuable clean room experience, operation of control systems, and hands-on skills while collaborating closely with R&D scientists and manufacturing technicians in the GMP facility. Developed a comprehensive understanding of drug formulations, biopharma manufacturing processes, and quality standards, with a focus on bioreactors.
Boston Scientific, Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA
R&D Engineer - Endoscopy Therapeutic Single Use Imaging, New product development January 2022 - June 2022
- Redesigned an endoscope handle by performing complex ergonomic component rerouting and surface feature modeling with SolidWorks to enhance grip comfort, tubing alignment, and optimize fluid velocity of flushing, and suction.
- Invented a foldable endoscope cap, interviewed multiple design experts, and filed for a provisional patent (work in progress).
- Produced at least 7 CAD fixtures in 6 months that were deployed to upgrade multiple prototype testing methods, resulting in more streamlined workflows for future testing engineers to operate Instron.
- Performed analytical Instron testing and data analysis with MATLAB, Minitab, and Excel; presented conclusions to the R&D team every week.
- Conducted hand-built and first-generation prototype testing, 6 of which were operated directly in pre-clinical studies and successfully cannulated to the common bile duct.
- Created a protective shell structure for electronic components using SolidWorks and completed electrical wiring connections for pre-clinical study experiments; electronics were waterproofed throughout the procedure.
Stanley Black & Decker - DeWalt Power Tool, Suzhou, JiangSu, China
R&D /Testing Engineer - IPG/ENG woodwork & Expansion May 2020 - September 2020
- Designed new belt sander, drill head adapter prototypes, and reported weekly improvements to the team manager through CATIA modeling.
- Proposed a patented solution to difficulties in testing a reciprocating saw based on principles of clutch mechanisms, and created the first testing platform in the industry using iterations of CAD drawings and prototypes within 3 months. Assisted in patent development and submission.
- Modified an old belt sander back from 1980s through at least 5 CAD iterations and simulations of CFDs with Ansys. Assembled cordless prototype by hand, solved overheating problems, and optimized dust collection efficiency by at least 40%, paving the way for next-generation products.
- Utilized Excel and MATLAB for testing, data gathering, and in-depth analysis to identify potential defects in prototypes, contributing to the prevention of testing failures and expediting the R&D process. Provided regular reports to the team for improvement with slide shows.
