Psychology Program Manager - Boise, United States - Idaho State Job Bank

    Idaho State Job Bank background
    Description

Psychology Program Manager (Training Director) at Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Responsibilities The incumbent serves as the Training Director (TD) for Psychology Service Training Programs (0.5 FTEE).

The TD has responsibility for developing, planning, clarifying, and administering all psychology training activities for the Boise VAMC and five Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in the Boise catchment area.

This position contributes to the VHA teaching mission to train and retain health care trainees to deliver high-quality healthcare to Veterans.

The incumbent will serve on Boise VAMC training committees and represent the Psychology Training Programs across the hospital. The incumbent also provides direct behavioral health care to Veterans.

The program in which clinical care is provided depends on the specialty/experience of the incumbent, but includes individual and group psychotherapy, psychological testing, and consultation with Veterans and staff members.

The incumbent's clinical duties will comprise 50% of their work hours (0.5 FTEE). Provides a full range of psychological services, including individual and group psychotherapy, psychological testing, and psychoeducation.

Provides consultation services for behavioral health and medical providers in outpatient, inpatient, residential, and community-based health care settings in areas such as differential diagnosis, treatment planning, recommendations regarding interventions with family and/or significant others, and in other clinical areas which are addressed by performance standards.

Provides supervision of trainees and unlicensed or mid-level clinical professionals conducting direct clinical care.

Responsible for oversight of the administrative and programmatic resources of the Psychology Training Programs; as such, will organize, direct, administer, and manage all aspects of the program, including comprehensive planning, development, and implementation of policies and procedures; determines resources needed to maintain and/or expand the program; secures clinical rotations and the qualified supervising psychologists needed for primary clinical experiences; oversees the quality and quantity of training; and establishes program initiatives and direction within the limitations of available staff and budget.

Coordinates the assignment of trainees to clinical training sites and appropriate supervising psychologists in the various patient care service lines where the clinical rotations are located.

Since the training program decisions significantly affect staff, resources, and delivery of health care services associated with these patient care service lines, the TD must maintain the independence of the training programs as required by accreditation and professional standards while consulting with those who hold overall responsibility for patient care to assure that the goals of training are consistent with the delivery of patient care in the desired sites.

The TD coordinates and oversees all didactic and seminar training in the training programs.

Maintains responsibility for the national recruitment and selection process of interns and post-doctoral residents, and the local recruitment and selection of practicum students.

The process will adhere to the guidelines of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) and any requirements set by VACO Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA), and conform to the principles and guidelines of the APA Office of Accreditation and Consultation.

Assures that comprehensive periodic evaluations of the trainees are conducted, and that the evaluations are completed in a manner consistent with APA accreditation guidelines.

The TD incorporates feedback from trainees, supervisors, graduates of the programs, and other sources to periodically assess how well the training programs are meeting established goals, revise existing goals, and continuously improve the quality of the training programs.
