Adjunct Instructor of Nonprofit Management - Los Angeles, United States - Sol Price School of Public Policy
Description
University of Southern California
Sol Price School of Public Policy
Department of Public Policy & Management
The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy is seeking a working professional with expertise and a primary position in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector. The successful candidate should possess a graduate degree and years of experience in leadership positions in the field . The candidate will be able to teach graduate-level courses related to one or more of the following areas: nonprofit management and leadership; the nonprofit sector and philanthropy; and/or other nonprofit-related courses. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience and excellent teaching evaluations.
In the United States, the nonprofit sector and philanthropy offer a unique vehicle to create social change and spur public good provision. Many important innovations have been the direct result of nonprofit organizations or their funding. This course presents an overview of the nonprofit sector and the organizations that comprise it. We will discuss the history of the sector and its economic, political, and social rationale within a US context. Careful attention is placed on the relationships between nonprofit organizations and foundations, government, for-profits, and social enterprises. The implications for and challenges of policy, strategy, and management are discussed.
Adjunct instructor responsibilities include delivery of course content, scheduling office hours and being accessible to students as appropriate, and grading. Each instructor is expected to provide students with a syllabus outlining the course goals, schedule and all requirements for the course under the direction of the Department Chair.
The hourly rate range for this position is $./hr. - $./hr. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
