- Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations and OSHA rules.
- Familiar with chemical names and terms.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineer preferred.
- Excellent PC Skills which include familiarity with and experience in the development and use of excel, spreadsheets and Microsoft Word documents.

Responsibilities :
They will prepare required written requests for new chemical and paint approvals by OSS due to acquisition of the R211 railcars and new work train projects .
Participate in mandated audits of shop operations dealing with chemical/hazardous waste/environmental compliance conducted by NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and OSS.
Coordinate the Qualified Products List (QPL) recertification process for paint, cleaner, adhesive and other chemical products.Work in this area includes producing QPL recertification forms for each product involved, contacting/writing to manufacturers advising them of need to recertify these products for the QPL via these forms, collecting the signed forms from manufacturers, and maintaining a QPL recertification database for these items (includes product names, stock #s, QPL recertification dates, when next scheduled QPL recertification is due).
