In addition, a core part of the program is regular professional development programming, which includes lunches and talks with senior Alliance staff as well as community, civic and governmental leaders.

Fellows are eligible to work in various areas, some of which have included
Arts & Culture, Operations, Administration, and
Communications. Below are descriptions of the fellowships being offered summer 2024.

    Please review before applying.

The Fellowship is open to undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates (no earlier than May 2023) and pays $20/hr.

Monthly transit reimbursement is also available.

    The
Application deadline is March 15, 2024 and interviews will take place between Monday, March 18 -and Friday, March 29, 2024.

Events & Programming Fellowship (Event Planning/Production)

The Alliance actively works to make Times Square an exciting and desirable destination through our various accessible programming initiatives from the iconic New Year's Eve celebration to our annual SOLSTICE Yoga event and our programming series, TSQ LIVE.

TSQ LIVE features free concerts, DJ sets, Jazz Performances, dance workshops, and more, 4 days a week from the beginning of May through the end of September.

One key objective of the Alliance's programming is to draw people to the neighborhood and its businesses throughout the year.

The Events & Programming Department works to choreograph the chaos of Times Square and is seeking an individual to serve as the Events & Programming Fellow.

This individual will work closely with both our Events & Programming Manager and Director of Events & Programming in the growth and execution of our third season of TSQ LIVE.

    The
Events & Programming Fellow will focus heavily on the day-to-day logistics and day-of execution of all TSQ LIVE events, as well as our annual yoga festival, Solstice in Times Square.

This active, hands-on role requires quick problem-solving skills, a self-starter mentality, and strong attention to detail. Other assignments include pre-production event preparation and research into untapped, diverse public offerings for future consideration.

    Policy Planning & Research Fellowship

The Times Square Alliance's Policy, Planning and Research department has planned and executed some of the most prominent placemaking and capital development initiatives in New York City, including the reconstruction of Father Duffy Square and the Broadway pedestrian plazas.

The team has also built one of the most comprehensive urban research and data analysis programs and uses research to develop and advocate for innovative urban economic development and management policies that are informed by evidence and challenge accepted norms and practices.

The department has also been involved with an array of advocacy efforts that have resulted in innovative pedestrian and traffic improvements and newer and more appropriate regulation of the public realm.

The Times Square Alliance is seeking a highly motivated
Policy & Research Fellow interested in the growth and evolution of cities and urban and public policy to help us manage, evaluate and advocate for Times Square.

    Operations-Plaza Fellowship
The Operations Department works to keep the engine of Times Square going.

The Operations Department is currently seeking a highly motivated, scrappy
Operations-Plaza Fellow to work closely with the Operations Department in assisting with plaza event planning, to improve quality of life issues, public safety, sanitation processes, and implementation of programming & event needs in the public space.

In Times Square every day is different; therefore, being flexible and hands-on with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are extremely important.

Possible projects may range from database management for recording and addressing conditions important to the district, to work force analysis, to assisting with projects related to the maintenance and operation of the department and Times Square district.

The fellow will also become responsible for preparing the weekly Operations & Production schedule that is distributed to all Public Safety and Sanitation supervisors.

This position is not only an office position - a lot of time will be spent outside in the elements surveying and addressing issues within the Broadway Pedestrian Plazas and around the district.

    Operations-Data Fellowship

The Operations Department is currently seeking a highly-motivated
Operations-Data Fellow with a passion for data analytics, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

The fellow will actively contribute to meaningful projects that will compile information on our neighborhood district and assist in improving operations processes.

Possible projects may range from in field surveying of public assets, contributing to standard operating procedures, and collaborating with other departments on data collection.

Candidates should have an interest in database management and maintenance, public space realm, and an enthusiasm for the Times Square Alliance's mission.

    Arts & Culture Research Fellowship

The mission of Times Square Arts is to collaborate with contemporary artists to experiment and engage with one of the world's most iconic urban places.

It is arguably the world's largest public platform for innovative contemporary performance and visual arts, reaching hundreds of thousands of people who pass through the district daily.

    The
Arts & Culture Research Fellow will support the public art program through archival research around the history of public art, artist interventions, and culture in Times Square, illuminating the district's history as a place of creative expression and artistic experimentation.

Applicants should have demonstrable interest or experience in contemporary art, arts/museum education, curatorial research, public art, and the politics of public space.

    More information can be found:

    Digital Marketing Fellowship

    The
Digital Marketing Fellow will join our Communications department to help build and execute content on our social and digital marketing channels.

We are seeking a creative storyteller who understands how to connect with social audiences through engaging copy, images and video.

The Digital Marketing Fellow will coordinate content across our social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube), drive engagement, and actualize their own ideas for campaigns and content.

These projects could include capturing the experience of load-in or tech for a Broadway show; interviewing historians and capturing the history of Times Square's seedy past; or exploring the creation of the new Broadway pedestrian plazas.

The Fellow will also learn how they can use data and analytics to create reports and evaluate campaigns.

Candidates must have strong communication skills, experience with social media, an interest in video production, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Times Square Alliance is an equal opportunity employer.
