    Description


    Are you an experienced researcher or policy analyst with a passion for early childhood education, health care, or elder care policy? Are you interested in playing a leadership role locally in expanding access to affordable care in Silicon Valley? If so, Working Partnerships USA is seeking an Associate Director of Care Policy to help research and advance these policies.

    The Associate Director of Care Policy will work with the Director of Public Policy and be part of our Research and Policy team, which provides strategic research and analysis and government affairs support to the organization's advocacy work.

    The work of the Associate Director includes identifying strategic opportunities to improve the power of workers, working conditions and access to care across healthcare, child and eldercare systems through public policy campaigns, research, organizing and coalition building with allies and policymakers.

    The Associate Director will lead efforts on campaign and policy development and implementation related to the care economy in collaboration with the Director of Policy and other senior staff.

    The Position
    Full-time, exempt, with opportunity for advancement over time
    Hybrid work, with two days/week required onsite in San Jose, CA

    Key Responsibilities of the Associate Director of Care Policy
    Playing a leadership role in developing and implementing public policy and organizing strategies locally, regionally and statewide for strengthening the power of workers, improving working conditions and expanding access to affordable care in the childcare, healthcare and eldercare systems in Silicon Valley
    Utilizing research to reframe debates on the impact of improving childcare, healthcare and eldercare systems and support organizing campaigns and summarizing key findings through reports, memos and presentations
    Tracking the current debates and policy proposals impacting healthcare, childcare and elder care in Santa Clara County, the state of California and nationally
    Working to educate policymakers on opportunities to improve access and quality of care and working conditions in the caring economy
    Gathering best-practice policies and evaluating how they could be applied locally
    Coordinate and support events as needed including providing logistical support for actions and meetings, including scheduling, turnout, event staffing, and other duties
    Facilitate collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders to build coalitions around specific policy issues, including outreach, facilitation, and conflict resolution
    Representing Working Partnerships with allies and supporters, coordinating and attending actions, and supporting the work of campaigns including on weekends/evenings when needed
    Required Qualifications
    Experience as a researcher and/or policy analyst with some background in related to early childhood education, health care or elder care policy and basic qualitative and quantitative research skills
    Exceptional written and oral communication skills and experience making presentations to multiple audiences
    Inquisitive, flexible and adaptable with strong initiative
    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
    Experience working in multi-cultural settings
    Valid California driver's license and access to a vehicle
    Willingness to work some evenings and weekends
    Preferred Qualifications
    2-3 years of prior work experience, and a demonstrated commitment to worker and community organizing, economic justice, and social justice movements
    Direct experience working in low-income communities of color
    Experience one or more of the following areas: healthcare policy, early childhood education, local government policy, or public budgets.
    Familiarity with data analysis programs such as SAS, GIS, or IMPLAN a plus
    Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese or other languages a plus, but not required

    Salary:
    $85,500 - $119,500 per year
