    Education & Outreach Coordinator Full-time, Hybrid: (1 to 3 days in office (Harlem), 9am to 5pm, with some later nights or weekends required).


    Inspiring Futures Summary:

    Inspiring Futures is a non-profit organization that strives to improve high school and college graduation rates for youth and young adults with child welfare and juvenile justice involvement by offering free mental health therapy, academic support, and by training support systems.

    The program emerged from surveys and interviews with 550 college students and graduates with foster care involvement, about their journeys.


    Position Summary:
    The Education & Outreach Coordinator is a new, exciting role in our growing organization.

    The coordinator will work directly with executive leadership to develop a curriculum and program that supports young people with system-involvement to return to and persist in school.

    The coordinator will develop and implement this program alongside young people, honoring and incorporating their voices and needs.


    The coordinator will be responsible for outreach and engagement of new youth and partners, attending community events and engaging new referrals.

    They will also maintain a caseload of up to 15 young people, ages 14 and older, meeting them individually on a weekly-basis, and assisting them on their educational journeys, and connecting them to resources.

    The coordinator will use a strengths-based approach to build trusting relationships with young people, guided by voice and choice and empowerment.

    The coordinator helps young people make progress towards their goals and work through barriers and will start by conducting a needs assessment.

    They work as part of a team with mental health therapists and other youth supports.

    Education & Outreach Coordinator Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement a program alongside young people focusing on skills needed to return to and persist in school
    • Conduct outreach and engagement at community events
    • Lead initial outreach and onboarding of new youth
    • Build individual relationships with up to 15 young people using creative approaches to build rapport
    • Provide weekly, ongoing sessions in our office in Harlem or virtually
    • Build relationships and collaborate with key adults in the young person's life to support their goals and well-being
    • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team with other professionals such as mental health therapists, educational specialists, and interns
    • Document progress and notes weekly

    Qualifications:
    Candidates should have: - An Associate's or Bachelor's degree or be in their final year of completing their degree - Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not mandatory - Lived experience with the system is preferred but not mandatory

    Compensation:

    • $45,000 to $55,000 per year, depending on experience
    • Travel and cell phone reimbursement
    • Hybrid: (1 to 3 days in office (Harlem), 9am to 5pm, with some later nights or weekends required)
