Summary:


Alianza Division of Catholic Charities Community Services is look for an Outreach Coordinator to support the Beacon Program's community outreach activities.

Working closely with the Program Director, the Outreach Coordinator will forge relationships with youth who are chronically absent or have dropped out of school to persuade them to engage in school and with Beacon programming.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement an effective outreach plan for communicating with the school community, families, disengaged youth and young adults, communitybased agency leaders and social services providers, neighborhood associations, and other stakeholders to promote the beacon program.
  • Coordinate with the Activity Specialist to maintain the Community Garden and Food Pantry with SYEP participants during summer programming.
  • Assist in program marketing, creating electronic and printable materials such as listserves, flyers, brochures, mailing lists, directories, and other related outreach materials.
  • Coordinate information gathering/sharing for participants regarding high school, college, and vocational opportunities.
  • Provide general assistance with administrative tasks.
  • Attend Department and Program meetings as directed.
  • Other jobrelated duties and special projects as assigned.

Salary:
$20.00 per hour - $23.00 per hour, this is a non-exempt hourly position based on a 35 hours work week or $36,400 -$41,860 annually.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

Full Time position:
Monday to Friday 1:00-9:00pm. July and August flex hours between the hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm.

  • Ability and patience to work with children and young people, recognizing their exuberance and juvenile behavior, particularly in group settings.
  • Remain in a stationary position either working at a computer or monitoring activities.
  • Move for long periods, providing instruction.
  • Travel when taking field trips, using public transportation, Traverse City streets, ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions, while escorting youth.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in the field
  • Bilingual English-Spanish helpful.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Comply with DOE, SCA, and DOMHG, SACC regulations.
