- Directly manages a team of Professional Learning Specialists that directly support curriculum implementation through professional learning, coaching and modeling for various members of school Instructional Leadership teams.
- Fosters a culture of continuous learning and improvement among the Professional Learning Specialist team by providing professional learning, coaching and modeling.
- Monitors the direct support to schools that Professional Learning Specialists provide, including advising on priority areas and schools and adjusting support accordingly.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Superintendents and the Office of Curriculum and Instruction, evaluates the effectiveness of instructional resource implementation and adjusts strategic supports as needed to meet the evolving needs of leaders and educators.
- Provides leadership in the areas of school-based support, staff development and the effective utilization of instructional materials aligned to the core curriculum.
- Assists with instructional walk-throughs in order to analyze teaching practices, support schools and teachers to attain high quality instructional practices, and provide professional development support based on a teacher and school's area of need.
- Manages all components of the professional learning and collaboration between Assistant Superintendents and Professional Learning Specialists including the identification of needed content and skill development to ensure a coherent professional plan
- Develops strategies that connect curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional development for effective data driven interventions to improve teaching and learning.
- Coordinates with the Office of Research and Evaluation and the District Performance Office to support school leaders to obtain on-going periodic assessments results on their students and how to best use the results to deliver differentiated instruction.
- Trains network staff, including Professional Learning Specialists, school-based staff, and other central offices to deliver professional development sessions to members of Instructional Leadership Teams, including Principals, Assistant Principals, and school-based Teacher Leaders.
- Reviews and assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of professional development activities.
- Organizes the analysis of multiple data sources to determine instructional support plans for schools.
- Addresses problems and concerns regarding instruction and coordinates resources as needed to provide timely and effective responses.
- Directs the activities of staff engaged in the scheduling, coordination and provision of staff development workshops; determines appropriate learning objectives, revising and/or adapting instructional methodology; ensures that staff development workshops are effective in meeting assessed needs and achieving departmental and District objectives.
- Reviews and evaluates proposals submitted by external organizations to conduct workshops and seminars and makes decisions as to the propriety and effectiveness of their contractual services.
- Develops and monitors timeline for completion of projects.
- Attends professional meetings as appropriate to support curriculum development
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Six years of full-time, paid, professional experience in an urban secondary educational setting, at least three of which have been in a leader capacity (e.g. mentor teacher, AA, or AP).
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Talent with a Master's degree as an educational minimum.
- Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Administrative certificate for K-12 or Secondary Principal.

Designs strategic instructional supports that provide various members of a school's Instructional Leadership Team with the necessary skills and content knowledge to establish high quality teaching and learning through the implementation of the district's curriculum materials.
Manages and informs the work of Professional Learning Specialists, who work directly in schools, in addition to serving as a liaison between the Assistant Superintendent and the Office of Professional Learning.
Coordinates with other departmental leaders to ensure that the educational needs of all students are met, including those with diverse learning needs, in such areas as, but not limited to, ELL, special education, gifted instruction, and differentiated instruction.
