    Job Summary

    As a Sr. Power Market Analyst, you will be responsible for leading data analysis projects and driving insights that impact business decisions.

    The successful candidate will have extensive experience in statistical analysis and data modeling and be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify trends and patterns in data.

    Key Accountabilities

    Collect, process and analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends and insights.
    Develop, implement and maintain statistical models and algorithms to optimize trading strategies.
    Collaborate with traders and other teams to identify trading opportunities and risks. This position not only interacts with transmission traders within the team but also other teams such as Power Desk, Financial Gas Trading, Plant Operations, Origination, Development and Regulatory
    Design and maintain data visualization tools to communicate trading insights to stakeholders.
    Continuously improve existing models and develop new models using machine learning and other advanced analytical techniques.
    Conduct electrical power transmission system/congestion analysis and price forecasting which will be used to effectively hedge delivery basis risk for Luminant's generation and load assets in different ISOs
    Identify opportunities for speculative CRR/FTR and DAM virtual trades by assessing the performance of the electric grid in the near and long term
    Stay up-to-date with the latest advances in data science and bring innovative solutions to the team.
    Provide transmission risk POV to groups such as ERCOT Power Trading, Origination and Development for commercial operations and Regulatory to improve the performance of the market and reliability of the system
    Comply with all FERC, ISO and Vistra's policies while performing all activities and engage in training for all relevant market activities as needed
    Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

    5-7 years of professional experience in data analysis or a related field with a focus in power market.
    Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization techniques.
    Ability to process large amounts of information to synthetize it into actionable commercial decisions
    Excellent quantitative skills, paying attentions to detail but not losing big picture, ability to deduce the key messages from complex datasets
    Proficiency in Python, R or SAS, and experience with databases and SQL
    Fundamental knowledge of US power markets (in at least one of the ISOs - ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, NYISO, ISONE and SPP)
    Prior Experience with one of the production cost simulation software (i.e. UPLAN, PLEXOS) is a plus
    Knowledge of Power System, Economic Dispatch or Option Pricing Theory is a plus.
    High school diploma or equivalent
    Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
    In assessing candidates' qualifications, we acknowledge that a bachelor's degree or advanced degree may count towards relevant industrial experience.
