    DURING THE INTERVIEW PROCESS.


    The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City's children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services.

    In child welfare, ACS contracts with private nonprofit organizations to support and stabilize families at risk of a crisis through preventive services and provides foster care services for children not able to safely remain at home.

    Each year, the agency's Division of Child Protection responds to more than 50,000 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect.

    In juvenile justice, ACS manages and funds services including detention and placement, intensive community-based alternatives for youth, and support services for families.

    ACS is also a key part of NYCs early childhood and education continuum, providing childcare assistance to thousands of child welfare involved and low-income children so they can access safe, affordable, quality care.


    The Division of Child Protection (DCP) is charged with investigating all allegations of child abuse and maltreatment that the City receives from the New York Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.

    The Division of Child Protection encompasses Child Protective and Placement Services.

    Child Protective Services include the Child Protective Borough Offices, Family Preservation and Family Services Unit, Emergency Children's Services (ECS), and the Office of Special Investigations (OSI).


    The Food Pantry Coordinator will work as part of a small team to ensure the overall maintenance and professional appearance of the Food Pantry, and ensure clients receive the highest level of service.

    The Food Pantry Coordinator, under general direction and supervision the Administrative Manager NM will performs administrative, clerical organization and customer service duties related to the operation and traffic flow within the Food Pantry.

    The Food Pantry Coordinator will be responsible for the following:


    • Performs administrative, clerical organization and customer service duties related to the operation and traffic flow within the Food Pantry.
    • Work as part of a small team to ensure the overall maintenance and professional appearance of the Pantry and that clients receives the highest level of service.
    • Manage hard-copies of office records and files as it relates to recordkeeping of food pantry distribution.
    • Ensure there is sufficient supplies and tools to operate and secure the food pantry within compliance.
    • Monitor and track the utilization of available resources for the food pantry.
    • Interface closely with families, and receive training from the Food Bank for New York City for placing and tracking orders, receiving food deliveries and managing client registration documents.
    Preferred Skills


    • At least 5 to 10 years of customer service experience in the public or private sectors.
    • Previous Volunteer or Paid experience, preferably withing social service setting.
    • Accounting and business operations background.
    • Bachelor's Degree highly preferred.

    Minimum Qualifications


    • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
    • An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
    • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
    • Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 31⁄2 years.

    Residency Requirement

    New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.

    However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
